Make good use of curiosity, curiosity and empathy to write eye-catching speech experiences and event records
Reflection Memo
A few days ago, a partner from the “Vista Writing Companionship Program” discussed with me an article I had written before and wanted to know how to write better? Can it even be more eye-catching? After I read it carefully, I discovered that this was an article about my experience in participating in an event or lecture. And her question is to know how to write attractive speech experience and activity records?
I have previously written an article specifically about participating in events, forums or seminars, sharing with you “[How to write lecture notes and experience articles? First prepare yourself a reflection memo] (https://www.contenthacker.today/2018/12/how-to-take-good-notes.html)”. For those who haven’t read it yet, you can read it first.
In the article, I also mentioned that we can make good use of the Memo For Self-Reflection introduced by teacher Sun Ruisui:
- What is the main problematic awareness (problematic) of this speaker (author)?
- What concepts or frameworks did the speaker use to answer the questions he raised?
- Does the speaker have a main point (perspective)? Opinion? Argument? Position? Or other relevant arguments and quotations?
- What vivid examples or cases did he use to illustrate his point of view? Or support his own position? to increase persuasiveness.
- What new vision or problematic awareness did the author’s speech help me expand? Or, how is his way of asking questions different from mine? Why is it different? What more do I know? What does it have to do with what I originally thought? (What’s new to me? – find my own relevance!)
How to write an eye-catching speech?
Today, I would like to extend this topic and share with you how to write eye-catching speech experience or event records?
In fact, I believe you all must know that if you want to write informative speech experience or event records, you might as well ask yourself: What does this lecture remind you of? Or which views of the speaker had an impact on you? Or what content was mentioned that left a deep impression on you? What are the gains or inspirations?
Example explanation: Taiwan Growth Hacker Annual Conference
Everyone can tell the truth, but many people may still not know how to write after reading a bunch of books or attending a bunch of courses. So, let me take my participation in the 2018 Taiwan Growth Hacker Annual Conference as an example to break down for everyone “2018 Taiwan Growth Hacker Annual Conference: Fan Bing talks about growth hacking, the pursuit of user growth It is a process of cognitive improvement” How is this article written?
In order to participate in this annual event of the growth hacker circle, I did my homework early. Not only did I read Fan Bing’s masterpiece “Growth Hackers: The New Talents Most Needed in the Next Decade, Use Low-cost Creative Thinking and Analysis Technology to Double the Users, Traffic and Revenue Growth of Startup Companies”, I also did some research on his development in recent years. Therefore, it was soon known that he no longer worked in product development, but joined the ranks of entrepreneurship and established the “Growth Officer Research Institute”.
Preparation for participation
Maybe it’s because I used to be a reporter, so I’m quite familiar with this kind of preparation. I also suggest that if you have time, you can prepare for activities and lectures first, so that you can naturally draw on others when writing articles or giving speeches, and you can also write a perspective that is different from others.
After doing my homework in advance, I will also set a direction for myself, which is the so-called entry point. Regarding Fan Bing’s speech, what aspect am I most concerned about? What are the “dry things” I want to share with you most?
Show a unique perspective
Many people attend events or listen to speeches and only focus on taking pictures and recording. This is actually putting the cart before the horse and even a pity. Because what everyone really needs is not a verbatim transcript, but the speaker’s unique perspective and your personal experience!
Therefore, I spoke at “[2018 Taiwan Growth Hacker Annual Conference: Fan Bing talks about growth hacking, the pursuit of user growth is also a process of cognitive improvement](https://www.contenthacker.today/2018/12/xdash-growth-hac king.html#utm_source=fb-vista&utm_medium=vista&utm_content=link)”, the “growth mindset” is used throughout the article, taking everyone into the world of growth hacking that Fan Bing is proud of. Listen to him talk about how to apply Growth Mindset in life and work?
Fan Bing brings the spirit of growth hacking into her work, not only helping clients use “growth thinking” to pursue user growth, but also applying it in her own life. When he mentioned that he also made good use of “growth mindset” when writing his own books, I couldn’t help but marvel, and quickly wrote down his application techniques.
In addition, I also recorded the wonderful cases he shared. After all, vivid and interesting examples are what everyone feels the most, and they are often the parts that readers are most interested in, and can be understood or applied in practice.
Make good use of the “three hearts”
To sum up, I think if you want to write a moving speech experience or activity record, you might as well make good use of the “three hearts”:
- Curiosity: Study in advance the topics to be discussed in activities, lectures or seminars.
- Curiosity: Be curious about the speaker. Before understanding and accepting the message he is sharing, ask why?
- Empathy: Stand from the speaker’s perspective and use his perspective to think about the context and development of the whole thing.
Now, do you know how to write interesting and informative lecture notes or event records? (If you are still unclear, you can consider signing up for the latest issue of “Vista Writing Companion Program” later.)
