This article The author Susie Li graduated from the Foreign Languages Department of Hsinchu Jiaotong University and obtained a foreign MBA degree. She is currently engaged in Internet marketing in the Netherlands. If you want to know more about the latest online marketing and business trends in the West, welcome to meet her on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/susie.li.35). Thank you for authorizing the “[Leveraging | Small to win big] (https://www.leveraging.today/)” website for reprinting, and I hereby express my gratitude.

Since working in digital marketing, I have found that many people want to enter this industry, but everyone has the same problem, that is, they don’t know where to start? Therefore, today I want to share with you what learning resources are available on the Internet. In fact, as long as you can skillfully use these online resources, you can not only learn to use digital marketing tools to supplement your existing business, but also create other job opportunities and increase sources of passive income!

Udemy: Cost-effective private courses

First of all, the first learning website I want to introduce to you is [Udemy] (https://www.udemy.com/), which was founded in 2010. Following the development of the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) movement, this website opened up for private teachers to upload their own courses, allowing online courses outside university campuses to begin to grow wildly. As of 2018, there are more than 80,000 courses to choose from.

Udemy.com is an online learning platform. It is aimed at professional adults. Unlike academic massive open online course (MOOC) programs which are driven by traditional collegiate coursework, Udemy uses content from online content creators to sell for profit. Udemy provides tools which enable users to create a course, promote it and earn money from student tuition charges.

I think they have done some things very well. For example, the KPIs of each course are public, so do you know how many people have taken this course and what the average rating is? In addition, they often have special promotions, so I have been lucky enough to take their previous courses for free, and the price may drop to US$10 for a complete set of courses (20 hours). It can be said that the price-performance ratio (CP value) is extremely high. It’s Black Friday recently, and they have a whole set of courses on sale for $9.9. Friends who like to learn, don’t miss it!

Vista Additional explanation: The Udemy website will hold free or low-priced course promotions from time to time. Interested friends can apply to join the [Udemy Limited Free Courses Club] (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Udemy.co3.tw/) on Facebook to keep abreast of the latest promotions.

The New York Times, BBC, Fast Company and other media have also reported on this website, saying that Udemy’s course experience exceeds the actual classroom. Personally, I really feel that if you don’t care about being able to interact with the teacher, the quality of some of the classes I have taken is really nothing to say! These teachers from the private sector each have their own unique skills, and their photography, lighting, imaging and speech skills are all very good.

edX vs. Coursera: Academic Courses & Degrees

If you don’t like private teachers’ classes and want to take more formal school courses, you can go to the [edX] (https://www.edx.org/) website. edX is the founder of the aforementioned MOOC and is a non-profit organization jointly established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Since its establishment in 2012, more than 70 schools, non-profit organizations and companies, including Kyoto University, Peking University and Microsoft, have provided courses on it, and there are also some free courses.

These courses are relatively formal, so some students also create their own works in the online lab. Since they are courses created by academic units, they are cataloged by subject. After taking certain courses, you can also get a certificate from the Professional Certification Program, which can add some highlights to your resume.

I personally think that if we take courses in the field of digital marketing, school courses are usually more focused on introducing theory and various principles and models. I personally feel that these things are not very practical in the industry - for example, it is a bit like you are going to the battlefield to fight, but the teacher does not provide you with firearms, he only tells you how to make a gun? Therefore, even if the benefits to your work after completing the course may be very limited, at most you will only learn some basic common sense.

You must know that the digital marketing industry is really about practical results. You often have to fight on the first day of work. Of course, theories, principles and models are not unimportant, but you may have to reach a certain level before they can be more useful when discussing business with outsiders. Therefore, I personally think that these courses can be taken as a reference, but not necessarily purchased; however, if you want to get an additional degree, that is another matter.

For example, edX has an online degree called MicroMasters (https://www.edx.org/micromasters). You can combine the courses you want in your own way and take them at your own pace. After completing the courses and passing their assignments, exams, etc., they will give you a degree.

In addition, if you really want to get a degree, you can also consider a learning website called Coursera. For example, they offer a digital marketing course offered by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a prestigious school in the field of communication journalism in the United States, as part of their iMBA degree. Their online MBA is not cheap either, costing US$22,000 and taking 2 to 2.5 years. But the advantage is that you don’t need to go to their school, so you can save a lot of accommodation and transportation costs.

Coursera was founded by two Stanford University professors Andrew Ng and [Daphne Koller] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daphne_Koller) was founded in 2012 and began to offer complete master’s degrees in 2017. Well-known courses include a master’s degree in innovation and entrepreneurship provided by HEC Paris, a master’s degree in accounting, a master’s degree in information science and an iMBA master’s degree provided by the University of Illinois. Currently, Coursera has 33 million registered users on the entire website and offers more than 2,400 courses. Starting in March 2018, there are 6 website-native courses offering bachelor’s or master’s degrees.

Google eLearning and other learning platforms

If you don’t want to get a degree so seriously and just want to know a little bit about the current trends in the field of digital marketing, you might as well take free courses at the courses provided by Google Garage. I have taken a Google course, which teaches you very basic concepts in a very simple way. It is very suitable for friends who have no foundation at all or who are just starting to get into digital knowledge. [Google Digital Learning Course](https://learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage-tw/topic-library?gclid=Cj0KCQiAxNnfBRDwARIsAJlH29ADwXWA-3j IZoZGI21C8easpqJ4gzlrYRSSA5cWkaJtjEzlxvxvYkcaAnPREALw_wcB) Another advantage is that it is not burdensome to read. The teaching design is from shallow to deep, which is very suitable for ordinary people to study on their own. You can even take classes after work or after taking care of children!

Of course, if none of the above websites can satisfy you, there are also SkillShare, Lynda (acquired by LinkedIn in April 2015(https://www.businessinsider.com/linkedin-buys-lyndacom-for-15-billion-2015-4)) and Open Culture and other websites are available! These are all great learning sites, check it out!

Well, I introduced so many websites in one breath, I hope it will be helpful to friends who like to learn! Next week I will share with you some well-known digital marketing lecturers that you should follow and learn from. Friends who want to know more details are welcome to lock in this site or the author’s Facebook!
