Speaking of Kevin. Kelly (Kevin Kelly), many people’s eyes lit up. He even has some fans in Taiwan. When he gave a speech in Taiwan this spring, it was hard to get a single ticket.
Maybe some friends don’t know much about his life. To put it simply, he is not only a master of technological trends, but also a thinker who has greatly influenced Steve Jobs. But in my own opinion, more often than not, KK is more like an old naughty boy (if you want to know more about KK, you can refer to Wikipedia’s [Introduction](https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%87%AF%E6%96%87 %C2%B7%E5%87%AF%E5%88%A9), you can also read the [article] I wrote before (https://www.bnext.com.tw/article/view/cid/0/id/22815)).
Today (September 29) I am very happy to have the opportunity to participate in the “[What Technology Wants] (https://www.books.c) hosted by [Readmoo E-book Store] (https://readmoo.com/) and co-organized by Owl Publishing and Google+ om.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/exep/prod/booksfile.php?item=0010541231)》Cross-sea reading meeting.
Go to Google Office
Because I was so excited, I showed up at the gate of Taipei 101 building at around eight o’clock in the morning when the sky was dim. Since it was still early for the party, I wandered around and chatted with a mother and daughter who were tourists from Shanghai. Due to the tight security in the Taipei 101 building, we had to wait until all the friends attending the party had arrived before we could go upstairs, so it took us until 9:45 to finally get to the Google office on the 77th floor.

At the beginning of the event, the general manager of Readmoo e-book store [Pang Wenzhen] (https://www.facebook.com/wenchen.pang) delivered a speech, introducing the origin and activities of the entire cross-sea reading meeting. The Readmoo e-book store operated by Qun Media Company was just established this spring. Their website is currently undergoing public testing. Interested friends are also welcome to register!

Immediately afterwards, the traditional Chinese version of “What Technology Wants” was published President of Owl Publishing House Chen Yingqing (老猫) came to the stage to share. He talked about Kevin. Kelly’s legendary story also shares with everyone the essence of what he read through this book. It’s a pity that time is limited, otherwise I really want to hear more from the old cat brother!
If you were unable to listen to President Chen Yingqing’s sharing at the scene, you can learn more about Kevin through this video. Kelly’s interpretation of technology. After all, what does technology want?

A cross-ocean conversation with Kevin Kelly
After listening to the introductions of General Manager Wenzhen and President Laomao, the highlight that everyone has been waiting for is finally coming! Thanks to the advancement of Internet technology, we can communicate with Kevin on the West Coast of the United States. Kelly successfully connected. It is indeed fun to use Google+ services in the Google office; I have to say that the Hangouts function of Google+ is really convenient.
The master is worthy of being a master. His hearty laughter and humorous expressions attracted everyone’s attention from the beginning. He also interspersed a few Mandarin sentences from time to time, which made people feel more cordial. Kevin. Kelly encourages readers here to try to find out the scope of technology and the greatest significance it brings after reading this book.

For example, the technological tools and mobile devices that are ubiquitous around us, after they are mass-produced, what significance do they have on our human lives and society? Kevin. Kelly also reiterated that technology is good and will put us in a trend flow. We are actually entities that belong to the entire environment. Technology is not only used on humans, but can also help connect to larger systems.
Technology can help us create greater potential and exert greater freedom. As long as we have 1% positive influence, it is enough for good things to bring greater progress over the years.

Kevin. Kelly encouraged everyone to embrace technology. He also revealed the secret of everyone’s favorite question about using smartphones in this cross-sea reading meeting! He jokingly mentioned that he had ordered an iPhone 5 and hoped to start using it in October, so as to experience the convenience brought by some emerging technologies. In addition to iPhone 5, Kevin. Kelly also shared with everyone that he recently used a small fitness monitoring device [Fitbit] (https://www.fitbit.com/) that can be attached to clothes. Through the connection, the data of exercise, sleep and other status can be transmitted to the mobile app for easy tracking and control.
Quantify your own inspiration
Kevin. Kelly started using fitness monitoring equipment, which is actually related to the concept of “Quantified Self” (Quantified Self). The term was coined by him and Gary, the editor of Wired magazine. Coined by Gary Wolf in 2007, it describes people’s interest in gaining self-awareness through self-training.

Although I didn’t have the chance to talk to Kevin. Kelly’s dialogue, but I am very glad that I started the action of “quantifying myself” very early. Well, of course this is off topic. Friends who are interested are welcome to come and walk with me.
This “What Technology Wants” cross-sea reading meeting lasted only two hours, but it brought me a lot of gains. Not only was I lucky enough to receive the book “What Technology Wants” from Google Taiwan Deputy General Manager Li Qizheng, but it also broadened my horizons and clarified my thoughts on some things.
Many feelings may be difficult to describe in words. For example, what really interests me is not Kevin. Kelly’s thoughts on iPhone 5? But from what I heard from the master’s words during the connection process, and what I saw from his expressions, gestures, and even the charming study room.
Through the video, we can get a glimpse of the whole study. Look at those colorful Lego bricks, human specimens and a large collection of books, I think that is for Kevin. Kelly’s Nourishing Bar!
On-site reader interaction
After listening to Kevin. After Kelly’s sharing, the audience was open to ask questions. Everyone also took the opportunity to ask questions, whether it was asking about the impact of future technology on life, changes in usage behavior, or even expressing their admiration for Master Kevin. Readers present also used Google Hangouts to interact. Although there were some hiccups with connection problems during the process, the overall event was quite smooth, and I believe everyone came back with a full load!

The event has now come to an end. Since the digital publishing circle is not large, I also met old friends such as Leslie, Yvette and Arik at this event. Although I didn’t have much time to talk, I was still very happy to see my familiar friends. I would also like to take advantage of this small space to congratulate them on hosting such a successful and meaningful event!
What does technology want? And my dear, what do you want?
