When you mention “Big Data” (Big Data), what image immediately comes to your mind? Are they stacks and stacks of books, newspapers, and information? Or the huge collection of books and DVDs in the library? Or do shopping malls and stores store various consumption data of people in the out-of-reach cloud?
Indeed, “big data” may seem illusory, but it has indeed become closely related to our lives. There are also books on “big data” that talk about “big data”. There are several books that explain social and economic phenomena and information civilization, and there are also books that talk about the impact and influence that network technology has brought to people’s lives.
However, not only scientists or engineers need to understand “big data”. In the past few years, I have been looking for a book that can talk about the opportunities and challenges that “big data” brings to our work, but I have yet to see a book that describes how to apply “big data” to our work and corporate organizations. I can’t help but feel a little regretful.
I am very happy to hear that Tianxia Culture published the book “[Big Data @ Work Force: How to Use Huge Data to Create Competitive Advantages for Individuals and Enterprises]” (https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products/) written by Thomas Davenport (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_H._Davenport) in November 2014. 0010656946?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201504)”, the author combines trends and practical perspectives to sort out the ins and outs of “big data” in detail. He also quotes a large number of examples in the book to help readers understand how “big data” changes our work and the operation of business logic.
The author [Thomas Davenport] (http://www.tomdavenport.com/) mentioned that the value of “big data” application in the workplace can be divided into three types, namely the value of reducing costs, the value of improving decision-making standards, and the value of improving products and services.
For example, Seoul, South Korea, based on “big data”, analyzed 3 billion call records and launched nine night bus routes to facilitate passengers returning home late. In addition, all taxis in Seoul are equipped with driving recorders. After statistics, they can not only tell the taxi driver where there are customers, but also use mobile phones to notify people where they can go to catch a ride.
In fact, we have seen special [waiting carriages] at Taipei MRT stations for women returning home at night (https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%A5%B3%E6%80%A 7%E5%B0%88%E7%94%A8%E8%BB%8A%E5%BB%82), but if the relevant units can use “big data” to conduct further analysis, they may be able to provide more considerate services in the future.
“Big data” has been developed for only ten years, but it has already been implemented from a future trend in the eyes of scientists to our lives. Through “[Big Data @ Work Force: How to use huge amounts of data to create competitive advantages for individuals and enterprises]” (https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products/0010656946?utm_source=vist a&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201504)”, we can not only learn about the latest trends and trends, but also understand how advanced companies in the world use “big data” skillfully.
If you are also interested in it, welcome to enter the wonderful world of “big data” with me.
