Early this morning, I drove to Mingdao Elementary School in Wenshan District, Taipei City, to teach [Community Story Copywriting Course] (https://volunteer.eden.org.tw/Training/Detail/1273) to the volunteers of [Eden Social Welfare Foundation] (https://www.eden.org.tw).

By exploring the power of words, you can let your story touch the world. Now, let’s get started!

In our busy lives, we often encounter various tasks and needs. Through writing or speaking, we can not only express our emotions and share our experiences, but also allow others to understand our stories. Although it is popular nowadays to use audio and video to tell stories, writing is still a simple and effective tool. It can not only be used for external communication, but also a good way for everyone to explore things and express themselves.

In this morning’s course, I and my fellow Eden Foundation colleagues discussed the nature of writing in depth, explored various possible aspects of development, and provided insights into improving writing skills, hoping to help everyone express their inner voices more effectively.

When many people hear about writing, they start to feel dizzy and numb. In fact, is writing really that difficult? I have to say that the core of writing is the reflection of thoughts, and it is also like a mirror of our inner world. Writing is indeed an art. Through simple sentence organization, it can help us convey complex emotions, detailed thoughts, and even outline a vivid picture in the minds of readers.

However, the beauty of writing lies not only in the presentation and arrangement of words, but in its ability to touch the soul, stimulate thinking, and even change perspectives. Whether it’s through a well-crafted new poem, a compelling story, or a clear and persuasive essay, writing can move people’s hearts in simple yet profound ways.

Embarking on a journey to improve your writing skills presents challenges, opportunities, and rewards. If you want to learn to write well, you must have a deep understanding of the use of words, a keen observation of life, and an open attitude towards exploring and expressing your true inner voice.

As you can imagine, this process can feel overwhelming at times, especially when faced with the dreaded writer’s block or when your own words fail to capture the depth of your inner feelings. In these moments, we must remember that writing, like any other skill, requires practice, patience, and persistence to thrive.

If you want to effectively improve writing skills, you can achieve your goal by constantly practicing and exploring different writing styles. Not only does this broaden one’s writing repertoire, it also deepens one’s understanding of different ways of writing to engage and impress readers. In addition, reading extensively and critically can also help strengthen your writing skills and draw on writers’ writing techniques and styles to stimulate novel ideas and perspectives.

Writing can be said to be a bridge between individuals and the world, allowing us to share our stories, insights, and visions with people we don’t know. In this digital age, if you can make good use of various social media and content platforms, you will be able to connect and influence others. In addition, we can also let our voices be heard by the world through writing!

In short, writing is more than just a means of communication; it is a way of self-exploration, a way of understanding the world, and a tool for connecting with others. As we continue to move forward on the road of life, why not embrace writing generously! Please remember that every time you write, you are making important progress in helping you understand the complexities of life and the depths of your heart.

Finally, I offer a set of courses of action for friends who want to learn to write:

  1. Daily Practice: Make time every day to write, whether it’s a journal, poetry, or a short story.
  2. Read extensively: Read works of various styles and types, and draw inspiration and techniques from them.
  3. Diverse attempts: Try different writing styles and genres to expand your writing horizons.
  4. Ask for feedback: Show your work to others and accept constructive criticism and suggestions.
  5. Continuous improvement: Continuously reflect on and improve your work, and maintain a learning and growth mentality.

Hopefully these courses of action will help you make further progress on your writing journey, making your words more vivid, profound, and impactful.
