In recent years, in addition to lecturing, writing books and columns, I have also taken on some consulting projects. The scope of consulting is very wide, from website construction and operation, digital marketing, brand image creation to assistance in establishing content strategies… etc. I hope to contribute what I have learned to my clients.
In addition to writing books, I also help publishers review professional books. A while ago, I was given the job of polishing and revising a book by chance. Although I didn’t make much money, I learned a lot in the process of proofreading the manuscript. It was a very interesting experience when I think about it now.
Today, I had the honor to meet an industry leader introduced by a sister from National Taiwan University. This senior has many years of experience. He really wants to organize things in the professional field into words and share them with friends in related industries. When I looked at the computer folder, I discovered that he had already written twenty chapters, and even the illustrations needed for the book were ready one by one!
I quickly reviewed several chapters and provided preliminary suggestions to this senior. In fact, the senior has abundant professional qualities and certain writing skills, so there are not many places that need to be revised; I think what needs to be paid attention to is what benefits does the whole book bring to readers? Or, you can write more about why you want to write this book?
Many people regard writing as a daunting path. In fact, I agree with what my friend Guo Xianwei, the founder of Between the Lines Studio (https://www.facebook.com/betweencontext/posts/2166539796758255) said: “It is not difficult to write good articles. As long as you are sincere, you can write good articles. Words from the heart will always be better than gorgeous words.”
Of course, writing with a sincere attitude is only the first step to improving your writing skills.
