The author of this article is Uncle Tiger Consultant. He believes that the super consulting power of the so-called “silver-haired consultants” is the pursuit of mental perfection, which is also a way of consultant learning. Thank you for authorizing the “Lecturer Club” website to reprint it. We hereby express our gratitude.

As 2018 comes to an end, it’s time to take stock of the development of Taiwan’s consultant and lecturer market this year.

It is not difficult to find that the impact of the halving of government subsidies has caused many consultants and lecturers who originally accepted cases to no longer accept low-cost cases. The unemployment wave resumed in the second half of the year, which also created a partial learning wave. There is a special phenomenon this year. Professional courses for new lecturers and new consultants are very popular. The growth of small classes with segmented audiences has squeezed out consultant certification classes that originally cost NT$60,000 to NT$80,000. According to the feedback from each course provider, the class completion rate is not high. Even if the class is successfully completed, the number of students is still around 20, which is actually not enough to cover the cost.

This year, in the field of entrepreneurship learning and entrepreneurship cultivation, personal guidance from consultants still accounts for the mainstream, but elements of slashie are mixed in. The corporate coaching part still focuses on performance, quality improvement and innovation. In terms of marketing, the focus is on brand building and brand integration. The trend of lecturers setting up book clubs has become popular, becoming another form of online subscription system and attracting fans.

Domestic lecturers and consultants began to try to expand to the mainland and ASEAN. However, the market has deteriorated due to economic contraction and shocks, and competition among the winners and losers has continued. In addition, mainland lecturers are generally young and make good use of openings, atmosphere and large lecture venues. Furthermore, there is a demand for large-scale training in the mainland, and the scale of enterprises is relatively medium and large. If there is no network guidance from Taiwanese businessmen and managers, they need to go through intermediaries from government agencies or innovation centers.

On the other hand, ASEAN lecturers focus more on eloquence and interaction. The companies are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises and e-commerce companies, and their levels are slightly lower than those in China. The audience is accustomed to full-day teaching, and Chinese is easy to master, but the habits and vocabulary are different. Domestic lecturers are very different. They are used to small lectures (within 30 people). However, cross-border lecturers and consultant lecturers are strong, but they are older and have relatively weak foreign language skills.

Thanks to the one-case-one-off policy, lecturers in the field of industrial relations are quite popular, and the advent of the silver-haired market has also allowed middle-aged lecturers and consultants to form a unique professional group in the country. With the focus of social economy and Internet celebrity economy, lecturers and consultants are gradually moving towards fan management and virtual and real management. The top lecturers of the future are not only Internet celebrities themselves, but they also need to attract fans and operate.

In 2019, domestic lecturers will move towards internationalization (mainlandization, ASEANization), enterprise demand-oriented (emphasis on both practice and efficiency) and experiential learning (case-based and practical experience); unless theoretical lecturers develop a series of courses and training methods, the market space will be compressed. Audiences from within the enterprise require practicality, while social audiences require results.

As for lecturers and consultants who want to develop in the Mainland, they must have a better understanding of the Mainland environment and information. The skills of large-scale lectures and the collection of mainland news cases are necessary, and the lecture topics are mainly about classic core and business practices.

As a consultant and lecturer targeting all of Asia, mastering the typical models and information of the three markets is the most basic foundation. The management of lectures and coaching is the first step to get started.

How to win among the many lecturers and consultants is to “understand the needs of the audience”, “establish your own teaching or guidance system” (rather than a separate course), “cross-border and integration” and “close to business and social practice”. This is the direction that Tiger Consultants believes that lecturers and consultants can follow in the new year and is provided for your reference!
