Speaking of content marketing (Content Marketing), you may be familiar with it. In recent years, we can often see this term on mainstream media such as TV, newspapers or magazines, or we have seen related applications in some industry forums related to marketing and sales. If you connect to the Google search engine and try to search for the keyword content marketing, you can find up to 56 million search results. But do you really understand content marketing?

What exactly is content marketing? In fact, this is a marketing technique that attracts target audiences by creating and publishing valuable content. But unlike traditional advertising or marketing methods, the focus of content marketing is to establish long-term interactive relationships with customers; therefore, you can also regard content marketing as an art of communicating with customers without actively selling.

Well, it sounds a bit mysterious? In fact, content marketing is to only deliver useful information without deliberately promoting products or services. It is hoped that through continuous dialogue and communication with the target audience, it can subtly change their consumption behavior or habits, thereby generating goodwill and trust in your organization.

Of course, in addition to saving costs, content marketing has many obvious advantages, such as: it can help you obtain potential customers, increase brand awareness, improve media relations, and shorten the sales cycle. Most importantly, it can bring a lot of intelligence and fun to the target audience. It’s no wonder that according to the survey statistics of the American Content Marketing Institute (CMI), as many as 91% of B2B brands and 86% of B2C brands have begun to embrace content marketing, which is quite amazing!

No matter you are from different fields such as manufacturing, technology, cultural and creative industries, consumer industries, non-profit organizations or the public sector, if you can set a clear target audience and content strategy, produce useful and high-quality content, and then deliver and share it through various content platforms and social media… you can not only save advertising budgets and marketing costs, but also effectively integrate various internal and external resources, and can also achieve the purpose of publicity and sales.

For example, the gourmet guide “Michelin Guide” published by the well-known French tire manufacturer Michelin has been popular among consumers because of its rich and detailed content since its publication in 1900. It is not only the origin of content marketing, but also touches the hearts of countless businesses and fans every year when it is published. It can be said to be an excellent case in the field of content marketing.

Although there have been many reports and articles about content marketing, it is a pity that there are not many books on related topics. In particular, the views and discussions from the Taiwan market are often missing, and there is a lack of systematic introduction. Therefore, I established the “Content Hacker” website in the fall of 2017, hoping to observe and report on the diverse development of Taiwan’s content marketing field from my own perspective!
