Today is a very visual day for me. So, it stands to reason that this article should be drawn, right? Ha ha.
In the afternoon, I met for coffee with a friend I hadn’t seen in more than half a year to chat about each other’s current situation and to see if there were any opportunities for cooperation. When I met her, this friend was already traveling as a Visual Image Recorder and was active in related communities! Every time I see her paintings, I am always amazed and have the urge to learn to paint.
What is visual image recorder? In recent years, there have been many large-scale forums abroad, and a unique recording method has become very popular. The visual recorder (Graphic Recorder) uses rich association and organizational skills to transform the speech content heard into easy-to-understand and interesting words and pictures. Through real-time recording, it builds a communication bridge between the speaker and the audience.
The happy hour of the afternoon passed in a hurry while chatting. The time sequence came to 8 o’clock in the evening, and there happened to be a live broadcast class of [Graphic and Text Creation Training Camp] (https://creationcamp.vstar.school/) tonight. Teacher Penny was going to teach everyone how to design their own image and introduce how to draw characters. I also studied next to me. Watching everyone practice drawing on jamboard while listening to the lecture through zoom, it was really fresh and interesting!
A group of us followed Teacher Penny’s online teaching and started drawing our own “Steamed Bun Man” by practicing drawing cross lines for facial features, and then gradually progressed to drawing auxiliary lines for emotions, hairstyles, clothing, etc., and we also paid attention to the proportions of the body… Finally, we filled in elements that are easy to identify and can represent ourselves, and we’re done!
In addition, Teacher Penny also showed some photos of celebrities in class and asked everyone to copy them, which was also very interesting! I think the main fun of graffiti lies in trying it out, expressing your creativity and creating various possibilities. To be honest, whether the painting is good or not is secondary.

Having said that, drawing and graffiti actually have many similarities with writing. In addition to being one of the methods of content production or creation, it can also be regarded as an activity that helps relieve stress and self-healing.
