Time flies so fast, and it’s the weekend again in a blink of an eye. February has passed in a blink of an eye. How have you been this week? Have you arranged time to read some good books?
In today’s program, I would also like to introduce you to a good book, “The 18-Second Super Self-Introduction Technique: Turn your life around and attract connections, jobs, and financial resources” written by Hiroyuki Yokokawa, a Japanese talent development consultant! ](https://bit.ly/3H1JN5O)》.
Many people are troubled by self-introduction. The author of this book deeply analyzes the self-introductions common to first-class people, and refines the “18-second self-introduction rule” after actual modification and testing. He teaches everyone how to find out their own strengths and establish a good relationship of trust with customers immediately through self-introduction; he helps teachers and job transferees integrate into the new workplace on their first day; he guides people who are undergoing job transfers and job interviews to successfully get admitted to their first choice company. In addition, it also provides guidance for bosses and salesmen who are not good at speaking, suffer from social anxiety, and lack self-confidence, so as to create performance and connections, and their careers will flourish.
What impressed me most about this book was the 5-second self-introduction technique! The author mentioned that there are five ways to quickly introduce yourself to others, namely: benefit-based self-introduction, vision-based self-introduction, achievement-publishing self-introduction, information-based self-introduction and weakness-based self-introduction.
Speaking of these five five-second self-introduction techniques, I think the most interesting one is also the last one, which is this weak self-introduction. What is showing weakness? That is to show one’s weaknesses to the outside world in order to gain trust.
Hmm, it sounds a bit weird, right? When we introduce ourselves, don’t we always talk about our advantages or strengths? So why show weakness? The author tells us that in fact, strong people know how to show weakness at the right time, which will make people trust and pay attention to them.
Therefore, the author tells us: If sometimes we can use the appropriate way of showing weakness to create a contrast, it will also make people feel refreshing, and even feel that this person seems to have some uniqueness.
Of course, if the person listening is very responsive to our weaknesses, we can certainly continue this topic to talk to him, and even learn more about whether he also encounters any problems? Does he also have any weaknesses?
So, showing weakness is not complaining. The purpose of showing weakness is to make people take off their guard and make them willing to communicate, rather than to really make you vomit or complain.
