In recent years, as a corporate consultant and professional lecturer, I have often had to produce business presentations for various purposes, such as course presentations to assist teaching or planning presentations for proposals, etc. Not only have I listened to some informal presentation courses, but I have also read many books related to presentations, and I have some knowledge and understanding of the field of presentation design.
Friends or students in the corporate world often praise my presentations for their good presentation. Not only are the layouts beautiful, but they also allow people to see the key points at a glance. In fact, rather than saying that I am a great expert in briefing design, it is better to say that I have mastered the essentials of briefing design and communication, so I can quickly design a briefing with marketing thinking.
Based on my many years of experience in teaching and serving as a consultant within major companies, I understand that in order to create a brief that dominates the workplace, the key to success or failure does not lie in beautiful templates or gorgeous animations or techniques, but in focusing on the target audience, smoothly conveying valuable ideas to the other party, and reaching a consensus. Only in this way can the purpose of brief design be truly achieved.

Last summer, I published “[Slow reading and understanding in seconds: Vista’s digital copywriting analysis time]” (https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products/0010794093?utm_source=vi sta&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201908)”, the reason why I wrote this book is mainly to help everyone solve the marketing copywriting rejection syndrome of not being able to write, not dare to write, or not wanting to write. Recently, I accidentally discovered “[You can understand it at a glance!” From NG to OK! Presentation and presentation skills to dominate the workplace](https://www.books.com.tw/products/0010826421?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_cam paign=ap-201908)” In this new book, the author [Nagako Amano] (http://www.11epresen.com/) focuses on the technique of using the appearance of information to impress the other party, and generously shares the skills to make the other party understand it instantly by just “seeing” without “reading”… Well, I am very impressed by this, and I am also very interested in this new book!
“The first step in producing briefings and materials is to think about the purpose and structure.” I agree with [the author] (http://www.11epresen.com/). As in the copywriting courses I have taught in the past, I will remind students not to rush to open the computer to write or design briefings, but to think calmly first: Think carefully, what is the purpose of writing this copy or designing this briefing? And Target Audience (Target Audience), which groups are they? What ideas do we want to convey through copywriting or presentations?
If we want to design a briefing that dominates the workplace, we might as well “begin with the end in mind” and first think about what is the purpose and conclusion of the briefing? Then, start laying out. As the author mentioned in the book, when making a business briefing, in order to grab everyone’s attention, it is not necessary to show off the writing or use a lot of gorgeous pictures to decorate it, but to make the important conclusions firmly grab the attention of the target audience. In other words, you might as well tell the other party clearly at the outset that “conclusion = the main idea you want to express.”
In addition, the author also mentioned in this book that it is very important to use visual images to design the cover. You know, now is a “visual first” era, so it seems natural to design a wonderful cover for the newsletter, but the author pointed out another important point: to claim that “this information can help you” to make the other party willing to open and read. In other words, whether our proposal can successfully pass the test has a lot to do with the cover of the briefing. After all, the time you spend looking at the cover is often only one or two seconds. In order to make the other person interested in such a short moment, you must “let the other person understand it in seconds” instead of just reading it.
The author also mentioned that if you plan to make the other party understand the content of the briefing in a short period of time, it must be condensed into a single piece of information. You can make good use of the “elevator briefing method”, and this happens to be what I usually introduce in my copywriting class. I am also here to share with you three tips to effectively use the “elevator presentation method” and leave a deep impression on people.
——First of all, we can ask the other party if they have “certain” problems? Secondly, tell the other party through graphic information that the problem can be solved “this way.” Finally, don’t forget to tell “what good things will happen” after the resolution. Through these three steps, you can quickly capture the focus of your target audience!
Book also mentioned an important point, which I quite agree with. In order to allow the target audience to actually read your carefully completed briefing materials, please remember to set a table of contents in the briefing. Because the table of contents can be seen at the beginning of the presentation, the other party can confirm that “the full text is divided into several chapters”, “the one that is most relevant to me is Chapter 3”, etc. In other words, inserting a one-page table of contents into the briefing is not just a brief introduction, but a way for the target audience to have a rough overview of the entire briefing material, which helps to speed up the communication of the purpose and key points of the briefing.

Overall, I think “You can understand it at a glance!” From NG to OK! Briefing and Information Presentation Techniques to Dominate the Workplace” is indeed a reference book worth keeping on your desk for reference at any time. If you need to design business presentations from time to time, I would happily recommend this great book.
