In the past two days, I happened to be chatting with different friends about building a personal brand and running a community. This morning, a student also discussed blog writing with me and showed me the blog topic she had planned.

I took a moment to share some of my thoughts with her. I have also compiled some key points here for reference by friends who are interested in building a personal brand.

First, figure out why you are writing?

Many people tell me that they started writing because they wanted to sell a product or because they wanted to build a personal brand. Of course, there is nothing wrong with this, but the point is that you have to find a model that suits you, and then write unique insights and bring core value. In this way, you can truly attract your target audience.

Writing can be a tedious task for many people. You need to plan the topic in advance, and you have to subscript and come up with the entry point, then arrange the sentences and paragraphs, and find some beautiful pictures to match it. The most important thing is to echo it from beginning to end, bury call to action and so on.

Some friends may have heard me mention that I can complete the above things in twenty minutes. You may be surprised, but in fact all of this requires long-term training and accumulation. If you are unable to produce articles quickly because you are busy at work or do not have a regular writing habit, then you should think carefully about your content strategy.

But the key point is how to “combine” and “enlarge” it so that others can easily see it? Writing blog articles is a good starting point for running a personal brand, but you can’t succeed by just writing stupidly. The key point is where do you start? How to combine your own expertise and characteristics? What problem can I help you solve? What unique perspectives are conveyed? What useful value does it bring?

Before officially launching, you might as well take stock of your own resources and strengths, and then think about your role. In other words, I would suggest that you think about positioning, tools and business models first, and then write the article well. If you don’t have the support of a business model at the beginning, it’s okay, don’t be too anxious. As long as it’s something you enjoy doing, dive in first!

Just like when I run the website “Content Hacker”, updating articles is just a daily routine. After writing an article, I work hard to come up with the topic of the next article. But remember to check yourself at any time, not only paying attention to the pulse of the market and the needs of readers, but also adjusting the direction and writing style from time to time.

Behind success, long-term investment and accumulation are often required before you can taste the sweet fruits.
