If you are engaged in business in Internet-related fields, or want to join the entrepreneurial ranks, then you have probably heard of Peter Thiel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Thiel). But if you don’t know what he is capable of, let me give you a little reminder: He is the co-founder of PayPal and the first investor to personally invest in Facebook.

──What’s even more surprising is that the US$500,000 he invested that year increased 5,200 times in just eight years, increasing in value to US$2.6 billion.

Peter Thiel’s success has its origins. In addition to his keen vision, he is also good at innovation and execution. For example, when he was still in charge of PayPal’s operations, he advocated the “extreme focus philosophy” of doing one thing well at a time, and at the same time required his subordinates to show “extreme work speed and energy.”

From a secular perspective, Peter Thiel is naturally in the “victory group in life.” But while the world admires and marvels at this wonderful journey of continuous entrepreneurship and investment, let’s not forget that he is a low-key entrepreneur with a wide range of interests. Not only does he have a keen eye, but he also has focused action.

In May 2014, I knew that Peter Thiel was about to publish this new book for entrepreneurs, “From 0 to 1: Unlocking the unknown secrets of how the world works and finding value in unexpected places” (https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products/001065 1050?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201504)”. At that time, I was still thinking about whether to buy the English version on Amazon. Fortunately, Tianxia Magazine launched the traditional Chinese version almost simultaneously.

The inspiration for this book comes from the [Entrepreneurship Course] (http://blakemasters.com/peter-thiels-cs183-startup) offered by Peter Thiels at Stanford University in 2012. He and his students worked together to compile the content and cases in the class into text, which is like a gift to entrepreneurs.

Peter Thiel’s Entrepreneurship, investment experience, and his unique vision are the biggest selling points of this book. As an investor, he always tries to go against the trend. He does not deliberately sing high-profile, but looks for opportunities where everyone misses them.

Only such a unique personality trait can make him say: “Competition is something that losers should worry about!”

This shocking sentence directly points out that only losers need [competition] (https://buzzorange.com/techorange/2015/02/16/peter-thiel-talk/), but monopoly is the way to success where winners take all. Just like Google, do you think it is a monopoly, or does it still have a lot of room for growth?

There are many books on entrepreneurship. Just searching for the keyword “Entrepreneurship” on the blog yielded 8,427 search results, which shows how strong the entrepreneurship trend is! But unlike other books that only talk about concepts, this book talks about how to build an innovative enterprise and is supported by a wealth of cases. It is a true step-by-step teaching from zero to one.

It is particularly worth mentioning that many of the charts in the book are quite exciting and should not be missed! After reading “From 0 to 1: Unlocking the unknown secrets of how the world works, and discovering value in unexpected places”, I couldn’t help but be hooked. Thanks to Peter Thiel for his honest sharing. This is the knowledge that entrepreneurs really need to learn!
