I was helping my friends in the “Vista Writing Companion Program” to correct their homework. One of my friends wrote a food diary, which made me want to follow the pictures and find time to experience it.

When it comes to food journals, how should you write them so that they are engaging? This is really a big question. Although I am not a food blogger, in fact, the principles of writing are the same. If you are interested in becoming a food blogger, you can refer to this article “[How to become a food blogger - A complete guide to running a local food blog] (https://www.contenthacker.today/2018/02/blog-writing-skill-experience-sharing.html)”.

In order to write this article, I first did some research online. I found an article that mentioned that to write a good food diary, you must write down the store information clearly; another article pointed out that you must attach photos, because only in this way can you have pictures and the truth!

I agree that store information and photos are indispensable elements of food journals. However, the most important thing is not these things, but what is the deepest impression this restaurant gives you? During the meal, what places moved you extremely?

Many bloggers are accustomed to using pictures and texts to explain, taking pictures all the way from the restaurant entrance to the bathroom, and even the menu. The level of detail is admirable. But I think this way of writing food notes is a bit traditional, and it is not easy to leave a deep impression on readers. It is a pity that you have worked so hard to collect materials, record and write articles, but the result is like a catalogue.

Of course, even catalogs have their value. After all, sometimes we just need to know relevant information about the store. It’s just that catalogs are highly replaceable. I hope that the food notes you have worked so hard to write can have a unique viewpoint and bring more value to readers.

In the past, because I ran a blog platform, I had seen many bloggers write various food notes with pictures and texts, but unfortunately, the articles that left a deep impression on people were extremely limited.

Therefore, if you want to write a food journal, it is recommended to think about these two questions first: First, who is the target audience? Second, what was your deepest feeling from this dining experience? Once you understand who your intended audience is, you can naturally write according to the interests and needs of these readers.

Students who have taken my copywriting class know that I encourage everyone to write more of their own opinions. Food diary is actually a very subjective style of writing. Don’t be afraid that your writing is not good, just write it right! I think that as long as you combine your personal characteristics and write carefully, you will definitely bring unique value to this food journal!
