In the blink of an eye, the time sequence has entered the transition between spring and summer, and it is the time for many stationery lovers and notebook fans to start looking for new year’s notebooks.

I was very happy to see the book “[Why top executives use cross-page weekly calendars] (https://www.eslite.com/product/1001270172630954)” written by Yumiko Tajima, the former director of Microsoft Japan branch introduced by Caishi Culture. Although I have never met her, I am no stranger to this author because I have read her “58 Practical Tips for A+ Supervisors to Create Performance and Solve Workplace Problems” before, and I also appreciate her several views and deep understanding of workplace management.

What’s even more interesting is that as soon as I got the manuscript of “[Why do top executives use cross-page weekly calendars] (https://www.eslite.com/product/1001270172630954)” and spent an hour or two reading it, I suddenly discovered that many of the author’s concepts coincided with mine. I also felt that this was a workplace reference book that was both operational and reference.

The female author Yumiko Tajima, who once served as the business manager of Microsoft Japan, founded [BRAMANTE Co., Ltd.] (http://bramante.biz/) in 2007. It has been ten years now. She is not only a successful entrepreneur, but also has rich management experience. She is active in staff training, lectures, public seminars and university courses, and is also keen to share her workplace experience with everyone.

I very much agree with Tajima Yumiko’s book “[Why top managers use cross-page weekly calendars] (https://www.eslite.com/product/1001270172630954)” where she mentioned that the notebook can be regarded as a command tower at work. This approach can not only be called a hybrid management technique, but also reminds me of another Japanese author Eiichiro Misaki in “What do successful people record in their notebooks?” ” mentioned the “Mothership Notebook”. Although the concepts of the two are somewhat different, they have the same purpose. Readers can refer to each other and find their favorite way to record.

What the author wants to teach you is not only note-taking skills to improve efficiency, but also the management implications and skills necessary for a supervisor, as well as tips on how to assist companies in motivating subordinates to engage in work.

The author believes that tools are only the main axis of the management perspective, and you cannot achieve the purpose of management just by relying on the power of tools. Ms. Yumiko Tajima also encourages everyone to fulfill their supervisor’s responsibilities and act instinctively.

I also like how the author introduces in the book “Use a five-week calendar on an A4 paper to manage multiple businesses.” This little trick can help everyone effectively grasp the overall situation when multiple projects must be carried out at the same time, without affecting the progress of any project. Ms. Yumiko Tajima mentioned that we can switch the angle and height to overlook the progress of the current project from a higher perspective. I think this is a great suggestion.

Reading “[Why top executives use cross-page weekly calendars] (https://www.eslite.com/product/1001270172630954)” made me realize the importance of writing again. I also agree with the author, “The power of handwriting is the power of personal communication.”

This book is very suitable for people in the workplace to read. Whether they are newbies or middle- and high-level managers, they can learn from this book the working habits and thinking patterns of top-notch managers. This is also the value that the author hopes to convey through this book.
