"Slow down for a second" philosophy: find the time to read and write

It would be nice if time could stop, even just for a second.

There was a time when we had to swipe our phones while taking a ride or eating, and even in the cinema we had to reply to our friends’ LINE messages in the dark; therefore, “distraction” is no longer a negative word, and “multitasking” is just a good thing. But, is this really the way we want to live?

Needless to say, everyone knows that we live in a rapidly changing era of action. Whether studying or doing work, everything should be efficient and fast. It seems that people who are slow may be overwhelmed by the torrent of the times at any time. But is it really so? When we only advocate the pursuit of speed, are we also quickly leaving behind some precious things?

Life philosophy of speed and slowness

Starting from this year, I hope that I can better control the pace of life. Of course I should be fast when I should be fast, but I should also slow down when I should be slow and think carefully before taking action. A life of pace and pace is the direction I pursue.

For example, waiting at a red light is a time that tests everyone’s patience. Many people can’t wait for the traffic light to turn green and rush out immediately when the light changes. This is not only dangerous, but it doesn’t actually save much time. But now, even if the light turns green, I will choose to wait one more second, firstly to confirm that all the people and cars on the other side have stopped, and secondly, to feel at ease when I walk. In fact, it’s not less than that second, isn’t it?

Furthermore, try not to swipe your phone when walking. Don’t be distracted or even stop by sudden Facebook or LINE messages. This will not only ensure your own safety, but also protect your eyesight from damage. While walking, wouldn’t it be nice to look at the scenery around you and breathe some fresh air?

Find time for reading and writing

I want to promote the “slow down for a second” philosophy in my circle of friends and help everyone regain a sense of leisure in life. I want to set an example. In the book club or “Vista Writing Companion Program” starting this year, I will no longer deliberately talk about fast reading or fast content production - of course speed is still important, but I want to help everyone find the joy of reading and writing. How can I write an article that resonates with people? How can you talk to the author of your favorite book?

After all, the point of reading is not how long it takes to finish reading? But can you find a chapter in the book that moves you, or get inspiration for life? As for writing, as long as it is completed within the time limit, that is actually enough.

Make a decision and then act

Slowing down for a second will not make you disconnect from the world. Thinking calmly, making decisions before taking action, this is the foundation of success.

Early this morning, my computer unexpectedly malfunctioned and could not be turned on at all! Originally, I was also in a hurry. I thought that many things would be delayed, and there were still many files that would not be rescued in time, so I couldn’t help but feel flustered. But after thinking calmly and seeking help from friends, I was able to find some solutions with peace of mind.

Well, I share my “slow one second” philosophy with you.
