This morning, I had a phone call with a partner from the second phase of “Vista Writing Companion Program”. On the phone, she and I discussed our study plan for the next three months. She told me that she hopes to share some experiences of new mothers with everyone by writing blog articles. I think this idea is really great.

Many people tell me that they want to build their own personal brand, and I encourage them to start by running a blog. So, here’s the question – are you sure what you want to write about? Like our partner, have you already set a topic that interests you?
If you haven’t already, I would suggest you spend some time thinking about this issue. As the saying goes, “make a decision before taking action.” Only after you think clearly can you start taking action.
Writing has many benefits, one of which is that it frees us from the limitations of short-term memory. Many people have some good ideas, but they don’t share them in writing. It’s such a pity! Therefore, I often encourage everyone to “output” more.
Many people have said to me: “Teacher, I have many topics I want to write about! Can I write about them all?” I know that everyone has a wide range of interests, including myself. However, if you want to run your blog well, or even want to move towards building a personal brand, I would suggest not turning your blog into a “hodgepodge”.
Appropriate choices are necessary. Only by narrowing your field of defense and identifying the topics with the greatest potential can you make a writing project worth investing in. Of course, you can also write about multiple topics at the same time, or even open several blogs, but I would recommend that novices start practicing with one or two topics.
If you think about it, when you find an idea that makes your emotions more intense, that might be a good place to start.
As for what theme to choose? I can give you some suggestions: First, please write about topics that you are really interested in and passionate about; secondly, you can start from your professional field and write some articles that are helpful to people. Finally, if you have enough energy, you can think about today’s trends and mainstream.
When you have free time, you might as well think about it from another person’s perspective. What kind of content are you interested in or need to read? What information do many people often search for?
Writing requires a lot of effort and resources, and some people even take several days to write an article. At this time, we have to think carefully: Which topics are worth investing time and energy into? I suggest that in addition to eliminating topics with low traffic potential, you also avoid writing articles that are too popular or that you are not good at.
If you just want to enjoy writing, then start writing! But if you are blogging for a (personal) brand or business, be sure to check whether the topic direction you are operating has commercial potential? Choosing ideas that are relevant to your niche can help convert readers into future customers.
Writing is like a marathon. You can’t see the end soon, but the result after successfully completing the race is so charming! So, when you first start thinking about building your personal brand, I sincerely recommend thinking about your interests and expertise, and taking some time to take stock of the resources you have at hand. Think it through before taking action!
