"The Soul of Money" post-reading experiment: a fantasy journey of 3,000 yuan

If one day, a sum of money fell from the sky and was given to you, what would you do with it? If one day you no longer have to worry about food and clothing, what would you like to do?
This seemingly unfounded (?) proposition happened to me a while ago. It was not that I won the lottery and would never have to worry about food and clothing, but that I got an unexpected amount of money, which was outside the prepared budget.
It surprised me, and I didn’t want it to perish together with the others in the daily consumption. In order to make it special, I created an experimental game and gave a proposition:
“If a sum of 3,000 yuan fell from the sky and was given to you, how would you use it?” *It must be used up within a week, and the results must be reported to God. *So you can’t feel like you’re spending money indiscriminately. The greater the benefit/speciality, the better. *Special funds must be used for special purposes. They cannot be expenses that already exist, nor can they be a drop in a huge sum of money. They must be able to independently complete results. *So it may be that you have thought in your heart “I won the lottery/I will spend it when I have spare money”. *If it is possible, you must also consider the cost of your own time and energy
Thinking about it this way, there are indeed some targets. Those for which I have “I’ll wait until I win the lottery” floating in my mind. Even if the amount is not large, I may not dare to spend it. Now when it is listed as an external possession, it seems to have entered the realm of freedom. I am laughing and joking. I have used a few of the 10,000 yuan I got, and I have the last 3,000 yuan left. I don’t know how to spend it, so I started asking everyone.
In the end, 10,000 yuan looked like this:
- NT$3,000: Donated to [Jian Mama Taichung Wanggaoliao Dog Park] (https://goo.gl/R75DyL) to support 200 dogs with dry food for a day.
This is a private dog park, and all resources are raised by ourselves. It is not easy. I learned about this unit through a friend who is a volunteer, and donations of clothes and quilts are usually welcome. I was surprised that there were already 200 dogs, but even more surprised that NT$3,000 could only help one day’s livelihood!
- 2,500 yuan: I bought Friend Rabbit photography works and gave them to a friend who likes these works but is not afraid to buy them yet.
In addition to supporting the persistent young creative brands, we also let our friends experience it. After hanging the works in their homes, will their hearts melt and relax their nerves just by looking at these soft rabbits~
- 1,500 yuan: Bought 0.00525421 units of Bitcoin on MaiCoin platform.
It’s super easy, just go to a convenience store and pay. I want to experience the feeling of having Bitcoin in my hand and riding a roller coaster… Oh no, I am a pioneer who is personally participating in the pulse of financial technology! As a result, the currency price plummeted after I bought it. Although it was a special fee, I still felt a little sad.
- NT$3,000: Subscribe to Shiren Magazine to support the founder’s ideals.
“If you want to harm someone, tell him to start a magazine.” A student studying at the Institute of Social Welfare at National Chung Cheng University is trying to create a magazine for himself (?) to introduce the stories of professional workers in Taiwan, hoping that the public will pay attention to Taiwan’s technical and vocational education. 3,000 yuan can support four issues of this magazine + trial issue and the reading rights of [all articles published in SOSReader for one year] (https://goo.gl/RREX8V).
This game is inspired by the book <The Soul of Money>.
One of the concepts that impressed me deeply is: “Money has energy. It must flow to have energy and show one’s will.”
Money, as a medium of connection, is an opportunity to establish a connection between yourself and the world.
Therefore, after reading the book, I wanted to see with my own eyes the story of the flow of money.
Just imagine, if these four events were the flapping wings of a butterfly, what effects would it have?

The dog survived and was adopted one day. He became the best companion and even helped with disaster relief and arrested current criminals!
- 2,500 yuan: I bought Friend Rabbit photography works and gave them to a friend who likes these works but is not afraid to buy them yet.
The friend happily took photos, checked in, and introduced the work to other friends. Then everyone understood that rabbits are clean and humane, and the adoption rate of stray rabbits increased. The effect of artistic decoration on the home was evident, more viewers were soothed by the work, and the society became more peaceful and peaceful.
- 1,500 yuan: Bought 0.00525421 units of Bitcoin on MaiCoin platform.
With the development of blockchain, watching the rise and fall of Bitcoin, I feel like entering the next generation.
- 3,000 yuan: Subscription for four issues of [Shopper Magazine] (https://goo.gl/cWtbtS) and one year of SOSReader articles.
This magazine was later read by a confused student, which clarified his troubles. He became the next Wu Baochun and became the light of Taiwan!
Of course, it’s possible that it didn’t happen at all and it was just my wishful thinking (silent).
But because of this activity, I got to know these units that I didn’t know before, and I had deeper interactions and newer memories with them and my friends.
After playing the whole activity, I still have these insights:
1. Some things are not really expensive, but because they are not important enough/relevant to oneself, so they usually don’t want to spend money on them. However, they may be interesting/meaningful, do they still have to be rejected in the future? Or can we allocate a “Special Fund for Fantasy Journeys” every year to allow them to go on unknown journeys and explore new frontiers?
2. Because this is a special sum, it is destined to be given special meaning. However, it is the same as other money, it is just a medium of exchange, and it has different meanings because of the way it flows. If this 3,000 yuan can be moved, changed, and take on new meaning, shouldn’t the ordinary expenses of food, clothing, housing and transportation be the same? For example, if you replace the rice you are used to eating every day with rice farmed by small farmers, you can participate in a process of reviving local farming.
3. See the difference in value of $3,000 to each person. Some people are excited to buy a pair of good shoes, while others feel that the amount is too small to do anything. 3,000 yuan is a lot for some people and a small amount for others.
4. The same amount is 3,000 yuan. One side is food for 200 dogs for a day, and the other side is the hope of technical and vocational education. From the quantitative “amount” to the qualitative “meaning”, you can compare the size, but you can compare the severity.
5. This game echoes one of the thoughts in <One Person’s Profit Model>: “If you had 2 billion, how would you spend it?” It is used to confirm and understand the important value deep inside. 2 billion may sound out of reach, but 3,000 is easily within reach. If this amount is a small pilot experiment of 2 billion, how do you plan to use it?
6. However, when some people think about it further, they realize that what they want to accomplish does not cost 3,000 yuan at all, or even requires no money at all! A friend proposed a proposal: “Invite friends to your home and spend 3,000 yuan to buy some food and drinks.” Later, it was replaced by “Everyone brings his own special dishes.” The communication is deeper, the cost is less, and it also creates beautiful memories for a group of people. …Some important things cannot be accomplished with money, but money can be used as a standard for thinking and a medium for value conversion.
7. It’s not just about money, but the same goes for time. Maybe this activity doesn’t cost much, but it also invests a lot of time, effort and energy from the participants (including you who read this). Everyone has 24 hours a day. Wherever time is focused, meaning will be generated.
Finally, I began to understand why there are so many submission contests on the market, because as long as you have chips, you can attract a lot of good ideas (laughs).
Next year, continue to use the thinking of Project Management to compile a “Special Fund for Fantasy Journey”!
