Hello everyone, friends who know Vista may know that I am a senior blogger and have been blogging for more than ten or twenty years. In the past, I also worked for an Internet company and was responsible for operating the [Blog Platform] (https://www.facebook.com/roodoblog/). It can be said that my career development and blogging are closely related.

Blogs were once popular, but after the rapid rise of social media, many people chose to post social posts on Facebook or post limited-time updates on Instagram instead of blogging!

Blog, isn’t it time for me? Should the signal be blown out, or like the nameless station in the past, can it only be stored in everyone’s memories and only occasionally respected?

As a senior Internet and text worker, I don’t think so. Even though we are in the age of social media, I still think running a blog is important.

I still remember that in 2019, I wrote an article about the development of blogs. According to the data I obtained from foreign media, there were more than 1.6 billion websites in the world at that time, of which more than 500 million were blogs, and there were more than two million blog posts every day. It is obvious that blogs have not declined due to the rise of social media such as Facebook and Instagram.

Nearly three years have passed in the blink of an eye. What is the development of the tribal circle now? According to Firstsiteguide’s survey, as of 2021, there are 570 million blogs in the world. Among them, there are 31.7 million bloggers in the United States alone.

Many people are curious whether blog is an effective media? The survey found that 77% of people often read blogs. A successful blogger spends an average of 4 hours writing an article. Among them, blog posts with more than 3,000 words will get better results. In addition, 61% of American users read blogs before purchasing, which shows the influence of blog articles!

The survey also pointed out that 97% of bloggers use social media to improve their results, and as many as 67% of bloggers who post every day consider themselves successful.

After talking about the data, let me share with you some obvious advantages of running a blog.

Wang Shuo, editor-in-chief of Caixin Media, once pointed out in his “Get” column that writing has five purposes, including: healing, pursuing beauty, seeking truth, doing good, and finding fellow travelers.

Whether you simply want to improve your writing skills? Whether you want to build a personal brand or develop a slash business, it is very suitable to start running your own blog.

Regarding the advantages of running a blog, it is worth referring to:

The first advantage is that running a blog gives you a place where you can make your own decisions.

Although Facebook fan pages or Instagram are very convenient to use, we must know that the control of this online community is not in your hands. On the other hand, when running a blog, you can not only plan and decorate the layout according to your own preferences, but also be able to speak freely and share your knowledge and enthusiasm with readers and friends. Whether you like investment, financial management, travel, cooking, photography or digital marketing, you can write relevant articles on your blog and find like-minded fans or partners.

Looking back on those days, the reason why blogs came into being was mainly used by netizens as a digital tool to record their moods or daily life details. However, nowadays, blogs can not only be used as a platform for personal creation or independent learning, but are also suitable for recording various records of career or personal growth. In addition, some people use blogs to manage information or share good books, or even engage in digital marketing or business promotion…

Overall, the uses of blogs can be said to be quite diverse. It is not difficult for us to understand that the content of the blog is closely related to the operator’s interests, expertise, and even life and work experience. Through writing, bloggers can also spread their interests, expertise, life experience or work experience through the Internet and share it with friends around the world.

The second advantage is that running a blog can enhance your writing skills and expression ability.

Based on my many years of experience teaching copywriting courses in companies and universities, I found that everyone wants to learn writing skills, but many people regard writing as a daunting path, and even think that writing is a very difficult thing. I think, apart from the lack of systematic and structured learning methods, people don’t have many opportunities to practice writing!

In fact, many friends understand the principle of “practice makes perfect”, but why do we still rarely spend time practicing writing? Leaving aside the reasons for being busy at work, I think that in addition to failing to break through some awkward mentalities and bottlenecks, some friends also lack some motivation to force themselves to improve. In fact, not every blogger can write brilliantly and write like a god! But because they have the original intention of maintaining close interaction with readers, no matter how busy they are at work, they spend a lot of time sharing information with netizens every week and try to maintain a fixed writing frequency.

When you start a blog, you need to be responsible for yourself and your readers. Don’t worry about your poor writing skills. As long as you are willing to write more and practice more, your writing skills, communication and expression abilities will definitely improve! What’s even better is that you also have the opportunity to get feedback and suggestions from readers, which can help you become a better blogger, or even an internet celebrity or opinion leader.

The third advantage is that running a blog helps build your personal brand.

I mentioned before that running a blog not only allows you to express your opinions, but also serves as an exclusive platform for you to showcase your personal expertise and interests. If you are involved or specialized in a certain field and are willing to share your opinions and various useful information with everyone, you will definitely attract the attention of your peers or people in the industry, and this is also an excellent way to build a personal brand.

Bezos, the former CEO of the world-renowned e-commerce company Amazon, has some insightful words about personal branding, which is impressive. He said: “Your brand refers to what others will talk about you when you leave this place.” I like this statement very much, so I want to encourage friends who are interested in developing personal brands to try to make a special impression on the public.

If you are interested in developing a personal brand, I suggest you take some time to take stock of yourself and find your interests and strengths, which are the so-called niches and entry points. Then you can start building a blog! Through continuous writing and interaction with readers, you can practice writing skills and improve your communication and expression abilities. After that, we will gradually plan the content and formulate marketing strategies to refine a unique value proposition.

Running a blog well can not only help us expand the reach of our life or career, but also win the trust and influence of the public, gain more exposure and voice, and establish connections with potential customers. In other words, running a blog can not only express your mood and meet friends, but it can also be used to promote product information and brand image, thereby creating business opportunities and income.
