Cherish companionship and welcome hope
Departure in the early morning: a day of anticipation and gratitude
Today started very early. Before dawn, I got up and got ready. I left home on time at 5:16, caught a train at 6:05, and arrived at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital before 7:00. This day is particularly important to me because my mother is going to undergo surgery, and all I can do is stay with her as much as possible to make sure everything goes well.
Although I had a lot of frustration with the hospital’s procedures and systems yesterday, when I stood at the door of the ward and looked at the hard-working medical staff, my heart was still filled with gratitude. In particular, the attending physician Chen Xunche actually came to the ward in person before 7 a.m. to care about my mother’s condition. Such an act is very respectable. The medical system may have its flaws, but in these details, you can still see the true care for patients.
The path of medical treatment is never only a battle for patients, but also a challenge for their families. While waiting outside the ward, I thought quietly that my mother has been the pillar of our family over the years, and now it is our turn to be her support. The responsibilities of life always change roles unconsciously, and I also remind myself that taking care of my family is a long-term road, and patience and care are the most important nutrients on this road.
The importance of interpersonal support: be grateful to everyone who is with you
During the operation, the support of family and friends became the best comfort. Today, I would like to express my special thanks to my second aunt, my brother-in-law, and Ms. Pan, who regards my mother as a sister. They made a special trip to the hospital to visit me. This kind of kindness is very touching. In the ups and downs of life, having these deep friendships is undoubtedly a precious strength. Interpersonal relationships are not just an exchange, but support and warmth for each other at critical moments.
Such warmth today comes not only from family members, but also from academic mentors and helpful friends. My supervisor sent me a special message to cheer me on and encourage me to continue working hard. This rekindled my enthusiasm for academic research even though I was tired. The road to the doctoral program is not easy, and it is rare to have a good mentor accompany you on this road. Whether it is family, friends, or academic partners, every support in life is our strength to move forward bravely.
New book is about to be published: When efforts are responded to by the world
On this day full of care and emotion, we received some exciting news - the editor-in-chief of the publishing house sent a message that my new book will be published at the end of February, and the new book sharing meeting will be held at Jinshitang Tingzhou store on the evening of March 28th!
This news makes me a little excited. These days, the market for physical books is not what it used to be, and it is becoming more and more difficult to distribute books, let alone hold physical events such as new book sharing sessions. But even so, there are still publishing houses that are willing to invest resources in this book and are willing to let more people get value from this book… I am deeply moved by this recognition and intention alone.
The path of writing is never an easy one. It requires continuous thinking, research, and creation, and it also requires being able to endure loneliness and accept the test of the market. But today, I only feel grateful in my heart, thank you to every friend who supports this book, and thank you to every reader who is willing to take the time to read. Because I always believe that when we truly want to contribute something to the world, the world will eventually respond to our efforts.
Academics and Future Challenges: Action is the Best Answer
Today, in addition to accompanying my mother and feeling the warmth of interpersonal support, there is another thing that makes me feel particularly special - that is, I can finally start writing thesis!
Although this is just the beginning, it is already a big breakthrough for me who has been busy with other things. Although there is still some distance between us and the goal of mid-February, everything is difficult at the beginning. The most important thing is to start taking action, so that we can make progress. The process of writing a thesis is like climbing a mountain. Only by climbing up step by step can you finally reach the top of the mountain.
In addition, today I also recalled a famous quote by Emily Dickinson: “If it can save one heart from being broken, my life has not been in vain.” This sentence made me think deeply. Whether it is writing, teaching, consulting work, or spending time with my family, the value of everything ultimately depends on whether it can have an impact. This makes me more convinced that in the future, I will continue to use my pen, my brain, and my heart to create more meaningful value.
Health is still the most important thing
Although this day was full of achievements, my physical condition also reminded me that health is still the top priority. Yesterday I was hit by someone while walking, and hit the automatic door. Fortunately, my glasses were not broken, but my nose hurt a lot from the hit. Although such a small accident will not cause much impact, it is a reminder from my body that in a busy life, I still need to remember to take care of myself.
This also made me realize once again that health is not only physical health, but also mental health. Whether you are spending time with your family, writing, working, or researching a thesis, you need to adjust your pace in a timely manner so that you can move forward steadily instead of being swallowed up by stress and exhaustion.
Embrace the present and welcome a better self
Today, although the early morning trip to the hospital makes me a little tired, looking back on this day, I am full of warmth and gain - the success of my mother’s surgery, the care of relatives and friends, the encouragement of professors, the progress of the new book, and the rethinking of academic research and health. This day made me realize once again that every step in life, whether smooth or challenging, is part of growth.
The road ahead is still long, but I am willing to take this gratitude, continue to work hard, continue to write, and make every day a better day than yesterday.
