The author of this article [Huang Xingyu] (https://www.facebook.com/hsingyu0319) is a manager who believes in replacing the “management” team with a “care” team; a marketer who believes that “altruism is self-interest”; an educator who believes that “education can change the gap between the rich and the poor”! A friend asked in a LINE group of a book club: “How can I start and transfer ideas when writing articles? And how can I make my articles more connotative or increase the length?”

My personal opinion is to read more and observe more works or articles you like, and see how other authors write?

Because there are many fields of writing, I don’t know what direction you want to write? However, I think the general direction is still to read more and write more. Like one of the best-selling novelists of all time Stephen. Jin, many people often ask him how he writes novels?

He simply said: “Read more and write more.”

This principle is very simple and easy to understand, just like when you learn Japanese, in addition to listening and reading, you also need to combine speaking and writing.

──Reflect on what you wrote, write what you said, and share it with others to benefit others. It is best to help others and solve problems through text. Over time, you will naturally develop your own style.

The above is a general concept. As for the specific method, we can practice keeping a diary first. If you don’t have the habit of writing, you might write a little bit every day, about a topic, your mood, your observations, etc.

First ignite your interest and passion for writing, and then further learn what is the structure behind writing?

To put it simply, you can observe your favorite works through reading and understand the author’s point of view and logic? Then, ask yourself:

“Why did he write this article?”

“Why did he write this paragraph?”

“Why does he arrange it this way in the overall structure?”

Through the question “why”, it is not difficult to find out the structure and context used by the author in the writing process, and you will naturally understand the logic of the article and the entire process of succession, transformation and integration.

I think mastering more reading and writing is a very important key.

As for how to make your articles more meaningful or how to increase the length? In fact, the number of words is not the key, and increasing the length is not a big problem; the key is how to make the article more connotative?

From my personal point of view, writing is similar to communicating with people. Whenever I meet someone, I think: “What benefits can I bring to him? What can I help the other person? What results can I create for the other person?”

Whenever you start from an “altruistic” perspective, you want to understand what the other person really needs? And because you listen carefully, you will naturally hear what the other person really wants. Once you can find the other party’s needs and then find a way to provide the solution the other party wants, the problem will naturally be solved.

Returning to the topic of writing, I think we can also take “altruism” as the core, convey and create value for people through writing, and make people feel that reading this article is valuable and has content and connotation.

Therefore, I suggest that everyone start from the perspective of “altruism” and think about what benefits I can bring to the other party? (When writing, although it seems to be for the public, in fact, think of it as speaking to one person, which makes it easy to write.)

As for how to write valuable content? It just depends on what questions the other person wants to ask, and you just teach them how to get from point A to point B. However, we present it in text.

For example, I myself serve a non-profit sports group. This sports group mainly helps the Lohas people to make themselves healthier through health-preserving exercises, thereby improving their own diseases and pain, and having enough time to teach others to learn.

A while ago, because this non-profit organization was going to hold a sports experience camp, the coaches needed to go on stage to demonstrate and teach other students how to do health-preserving exercises. At that time, I learned that they were very afraid of going on stage, and I also knew that this group of partners had this problem. Therefore, I wrote an article to share my personal experience and methods on how to face the fear of going on stage, letting everyone know that going on stage is not that scary!

This article is actually very easy to write because I know exactly who I want to write it to? And what do they care about, and what is the real crux? I also know it very well. Therefore, I will use my personal experience to share with you the concepts and methods needed to get on stage.

I think the most basic principle when writing is to let others understand what the concept is? What is the method? Only with the combination of concepts and methods can people learn effectively.

After finishing writing, the feedback they gave was very positive and they found it very useful.

I still remember that the main points of writing the article at that time were:

  1. What is the reason for the fear of going on stage? (The more specific you can be in describing the cause of the problem, the better it will appear that you are an expert.)

  2. What concepts do you need to have before becoming a teacher or coach? (You feel nervous because the focus is on yourself. If you put your focus on serving others and benefiting others, you will naturally not be nervous.)

  3. What is your personal story? (Writing personal stories can allow people to go deeper into the situation, and more importantly, let people understand “Why should I listen to your ideas?”)

  4. Reference method on how to prepare for the stage (concept matching method, not just theory.)

This article later became a handout for internal coach training, and it clearly played its role.

Therefore, I think that in order to write articles with content and connotation, we must start from altruism and always think about how I can help readers?

Let me remind you again, when communicating with words, please master the concepts and methods!

Concept: Can you highlight the theories, stories, and common people’s misconceptions that you are based on? What is the correct understanding?

Method: Specific method, the purpose is to encourage others to take action to apply the concepts you teach, let yourself experience it, write down your steps? Then write down the first step, the second step… and so on one by one, or proceed in the form of key points, which are all methods you can refer to.

At the beginning, you may not be used to it, but once you can actually help someone solve his or her problem, you will become more and more comfortable writing! As long as you apply these guidelines, you will naturally be handy when writing or engaging in content marketing!
