In this exclusive interview, in addition to introducing the features of this book, I also share with you my own reading and writing skills. In fact, in the past, I often mentioned the importance of input, thinking and output to my Writing Class classmates.
What’s interesting is that I only mentioned the importance of output in the morning. When I went to the bookstore at noon, I immediately saw a special book on output. What a coincidence! Cheng Maozhen pointed out that in this era of explosive information, we always over-input all kinds of information and lack output. For example, when everyone wakes up, they check their smartphones to see if there are any important messages. Sometimes they even check their phones while walking, and they feel uneasy if they don’t reply to the messages right away.
People not only like to swipe their phones, but they will immediately search for it on Google whenever they see a term or event they don’t understand. At first glance, it seems that everyone has a learning mentality no matter what they do, but the author believes that although everyone likes to check information or read books, and find it interesting and satisfying, they lack the ability to think and are rarely able to export their opinions to the outside world…
This is actually a pity, because the rapidly advancing human society is silently declaring: Only if you take the initiative to speak out, will you not be buried among all living beings.
Taking the initiative to speak is a kind of output.
Having said that, if the work we do does not need to be edited and then output, then our mechanical input and output actions may be replaced by artificial intelligence at any time.
Not only is there no benefit to over-inputting, but when valid and invalid information are all mixed together, no matter how much knowledge and ideas you have, they will always be just knowledge and ideas. Having said that, if we don’t output it, the information we absorb cannot make you different from others!
In other words, through output, you can let everyone understand you, give you feedback, and learn ways to improve. Only through output can you make friends in the field you are passionate about and obtain better input resources. Even more, you can let more people see you, create opportunities to be discovered, and move towards higher places.

In the past, I often advocated the importance of “output” when teaching externally. Therefore, the book mentions about the output of writing and speech. Not only are they principles that I am familiar with, but I also agree with the author’s point of view. For example, the author mentioned that he should not be obsessed with writing “good articles”, but should try to write articles that are easy to understand. This point deeply impressed me. But the chapter in this book that really amazed me was Chapter 4 about the “appearance” output technique of operational impressions. In other words, you need to use visual elements and methods to label yourself!
To be honest, dressing is something I am not good at, so when I saw that the author of this book gave me some specific advice on how to create a look, it particularly resonated with me. For example, when wearing a suit, why do you need a pocket square? When we wear glasses, in addition to paying attention to the matching of vision and style, what details should we pay attention to? The author has a detailed answer in this book, so I won’t spoil it yet.
The author also mentioned an important point in this book, which I quite agree with. He said: If we want to input effectively, then please input skills and methods, not knowledge itself.
