The first “Medium Users Gathering” was held in the afternoon of December 17th at the Creation Dream Market. In addition to focusing on the exchange of Medium users, the organizer also invited the local writing and publishing platform [SOSreader] (https://sosreader.com/) to attend the meeting, and was represented by the founders [Weng Ziqi] (https://www.facebook.com/maverickprs) and [Chen Yiping] (https://www.facebook.com/yiping.tw).
SOSreader is a new type of writing and publishing platform. We provide an ad-free, easy-to-use writing space suitable for in-depth writing, sharing and communication. It also supports a cash flow function for readers to pay for subscriptions. Whether you are a journalist working on in-depth topics, a literary creator immersed in writing, or you like to share articles and comments that are insightful, informative, and reasonable, this is the most suitable place.
SOSreader claims to be the first website in Asia to launch a “fund-raising subscription”. It hopes to serve as a platform to support the publication of local creators. Proposal authors can customize writing content, publication frequency and feedback plans, and open subscription and sponsorship to the public.
Facing a group of friends who are aspiring to create, the founder Weng Ziqi was also on hand to share with everyone the recent development of SOSreader. He mentioned that since its inception, about 2,500 people have written letters expressing their desire to join this creative platform. However, after evaluation and careful consideration, only 5% of the lucky ones were able to board SOSreader. In other words, up to 95% of applicants are blocked.

Weng Ziqi said, “Writing requires discipline, so less than 10% of people can join the ranks of paid writers.” He also took the platform’s most famous columnist Zhawen Wen as an example and mentioned Zhanwen In order to implement the project “Zha Zhi”: One Man Magazine, I not only wrote it very seriously, but also submitted it in advance every time. It can be said to be an example for all writers, and it is really commendable.
Looking back on past developments, Weng Ziqi believes that the subscription system is selling future products. If the author does not have a careful creative plan and cannot continue to update every week, the loyalty and trust of fans will be greatly reduced, and even subscribers will cancel their subscriptions.
In order to encourage more people to get involved in creation, Weng Ziqi also brought good news to this gathering: in the future, everyone can start writing immediately as long as they register an account at SOSreader. In order to respond to market demand, SOSreader will also transform into a service platform with paid subscription as its core.
Talking about the idea of this revision, the SOSreader team firmly believes that content has a price, so the payment decision must be returned to the author, so that the author has more space to express himself! At the end of December, they are about to launch a major revision. In the future, SOSreader will be more like an organic blog platform. You may wish to wait and see!
