[Why we reprint this article] When it comes to social media, many people only think of Facebook and Instagram, but ignore popular foreign websites such as LinkedIn and Twitter. Through Susie’s personal experience, we can understand how to use social media to manage workplace connections and collect inspiration and materials for content marketing.
Studying an MBA abroad is a must. The school will hold workshops and require everyone to start updating their online resume. Coming from Taiwan, I was stupid at first. I thought it was just like a paper resume. I wanted to write an official version and show it to the company’s HR so that they could understand what I had done in the past. So, I also started to list what I have done in the past.
Later, I found myself deeply in love with the service LinkedIn. For someone like me who loves to look for inspiration on the Internet, LinkedIn has really helped me a lot! For readers in Taiwan, LinkedIn may be a relatively unfamiliar social media, but I have been exploring it for about half a year and feel that if I start using it earlier, I may be able to grow professionally faster! Here’s why:
-
LinkedIn is a tool for building professional connections: every time you go out and meet new, professional friends, you can immediately add them to LinkedIn. In this way, after each social interaction, you not only have the other person’s business card, but also their resume, which is equivalent to building a resume database within your own industry!
-
Opinion leaders in the industry can be found on LinkedIn: Because the trend of adding people to each other on LinkedIn is very popular in the West, even company CEOs do not shy away from adding people on LinkedIn; some human resources directors (HR) will also deliberately add people because they also need to expand their network. The information they release, such as job openings or what news they have seen recently in the industry, can be a source of inspiration. Or you can also find influencers in the industry, such as well-known writers or famous speakers. These can be easily searched on the Internet.
For example, it’s like Google’s digital internet god Avinash Kaushik!
- Promotional documents of various companies can be seen on LinkedIn: Many companies will also launch campaigns to promote their companies on the official LinkedIn account. From those campaigns, you can see a lot of creative content. The key point is that you need to search for these companies, then click Following on these companies’ web pages, and then their content will be pushed to you. Sometimes you can also see some interesting content because friends in the community like it.
For example, Coca-Cola’s LinkedIn official website has a very high click-through rate.
-
You can join professional community discussions on LinkedIn: For example, you can join the [Content Marketing] (https://www.contenthacker.today/p/content-marketing.html) group to see what everyone is studying recently (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/1879338), or see what kind of gatherings are happening in the industry recently? In addition, you can also use the Discover function to see which groups your friends in the community have joined.
-
Use Hash Tag # for in-depth content exploration: #’s uses on LinkedIn and Facebook are roughly the same, but there is a very good usage you can learn! If you recently attended a large seminar and didn’t have time to absorb all the content, you might as well search on LinkedIn first! At this time, you can see the content contributed by all the friends who participated in this seminar with you. For example, the author recently participated in #TNW2018. Using this keyword, I can find a lot of exhibition content that I was unable to participate in and study in depth at the time.
LinkedIn (LinkedIn) is a social network similar to Facebook. After registration, an electronic business card will be automatically generated and imported. It was founded in December 2002 and acquired by Microsoft on June 13, 2016. It is mainly used by business people.
