Pursue a beautiful life practice, start with "summer local travel"

Attend summer local travel lecture

There was a shower in the afternoon today, but luckily the sky cleared up soon after the rain.

I came to the somewhat unfamiliar Jinxi Street to attend the “Summer Local Travel” lecture organized by my friend [Sabina] (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=632071327) and her friends. When I saw the description written by the organizer on the registration page (https://www.accupass.com/event/1904261752581076218380), I couldn’t help but yearn for it, and as expected, the event was amazing from the start!

Travel is to see a more realistic world. The humorous chatter and laughter of the characters in the small town, the seasons in each season, the cultural context inherited from the customs, the pocket secrets of old neighbors, and endless stories…

The speaker, Amber, is the founder of “Three-person Documentary Channel” and the producer of “Aiwanke”. She talked about her connection with tourism. She used to work in the public relations industry, but now she is deeply in love with using lenses to capture the beauty of Taiwan’s various scenic spots.

The original intention of the three-person documentary channel

Xiaorong told everyone that the reason why “Three People Documentary Channel” was established is to pursue a better life practice.

As the saying goes, “Three people make a crowd, and a united will makes a city.” Any beautiful practice in life cannot be completed by one person alone. Therefore, when people gather together, culture will take shape. The original intention of the establishment of “Three-person Documentary Channel” is to record cultural life around the world and highlight individuals who are willing to devote themselves to the beautiful things in life.

Hearing such a concept, I suddenly felt very moved. Although travel is actually a private matter, it is really not easy to see a group of people willing to work hard for this land.

Xiaorong mentioned that it is now popular for many units to hire Internet celebrities to shoot videos to introduce tourist attractions. You can run around with your mobile phone or single-lens camera! However, their team did not want to follow the rules, but decided to record the beauty of Taiwan in the form of documentaries. The reason is very simple, because they firmly believe that “travel is to see a more realistic world.”

She also mentioned that the definition of travel is rapidly iterating. If everyone agrees that “travel equals attractions plus gameplay”, then it becomes very important what angle and viewpoint people use to view each trip!

Xiaorong shared several videos shot by her team with the guests. In each of them, the video of Hsinchu Dongmen Market impressed me the most.

The transformation of Hsinchu Dongmen Market

Many people don’t know that [Hsinchu Dongmen Market] (Hsinchu Dongmen Market) (https://www.popdaily.com.tw/article/123401), which looks a bit old now, was actually a very impressive and fashionable two-story vegetable market seventy years ago! Not only is it located in the prosperous city center, it also has the first electric escalator in Hsinchu City. It’s a pity that time has passed and it has become very deserted now.

Fortunately, “Open Door Studio”, composed of teachers and students from National Tsing Hua University, and a group of young entrepreneurs have successively moved in. Combining their youthful and invincible attitude with the quaint atmosphere of the market, the old building has regained its former glory.

I was particularly moved when I saw this video. Because, as a Hsinchu native, I often ran around the Dongmen Market when I was a child! Next time, I must go back and have a good stroll.

The story of inheriting Paiwan culture

In addition to the moving presence of young forces entering the Hsinchu East Gate Market, a girl who grew up in the Jiupawan tribe in Ma’s hometown in Pingtung [Pan Yali](https://www.golocalday.com/2018/01/06/%E3%80%90%E5%8F%B0%E7%81%A3x%E7%89%B9%E8%89%B2%E5%B0%8F%E9% 8E%AE%E3%80%91%E7%91%AA%E5%AE%B6%E8%88%8A%E7%AD%8F%E7%81%A3%E9%83%A8 %E8%90%BD%E7%9A%84%E7%9B%B8%E9%81%87%E5%BD%B1%E9%9F%B3/), her story is equally touching. Not only did she make good use of the wisdom of the elderly, she rebuilt a traditional slate house herself, and also opened the “Taobuli Yue Sheath Weaving Studio” (https://www.facebook.com/ngat2) in her hometown, striving to pass on the traditional culture of the Paiwan people.

I also saw the peach leaf work they weaved on site, which was really great! I saw many people at the event who couldn’t put it down. I think this is the charm of handmade works!

I am really grateful to “Three People Documentary Channel” for using the power of images to tell so many wonderful hometown stories. I am also very grateful to the organizer for carefully preparing such a great lecture and providing great souvenirs!

Well, although I was a little disappointed when I didn’t win the prize in the end, after listening to Xiaorong’s sharing today, I really feel that travel is so important… Although Taiwan is small, this island has many stories and many attractions are world-class!

Summer is coming, and although I still have a lot of work, I have decided that I must make time for it. Whether traveling alone or with friends, I have to pack my bags and go on a little trip!
