Speaking of Mr. Masayoshi Son, the founder and president of Japan [Softbank] (https://www.softbank.jp/), I believe Taiwanese readers should be familiar with it. But many people’s understanding of Sun’s deeds may only be that he is a shareholder of two major Chinese entrepreneurs, Terry Gou and Jack Ma, or that Software Bank once held the exclusive sales rights for the iPhone in Japan, and even has a close relationship with Yahoo.

According to Wikipedia, Masayoshi Son is a third-generation Korean-Japanese, born in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, Japan. According to Forbes magazine, he had a net worth of US$8.1 billion in 2011, ranking second among Japan’s richest people. Sun once surpassed Bill Gates to become the world’s richest man before the Internet bubble in the 1990s, when Yahoo’s valuation reached its highest point.

In fact, Software Banking Group’s business spans the fields of broadband network, fixed-line telephone, e-commerce, Internet services, Internet telephone, technology services, holdings, finance, media and marketing. To use a popular saying in the entrepreneurial circle, this is already the scale of hundreds of unicorns.

In the past, many media reported on the story of Masayoshi Son’s success, saying that he was inspired by Sakamoto Ryoma since he was a child, so he had lofty ambitions and went to study in the United States when he was 16 years old. Later, he developed an electronic translator device while still in college, which was favored by Sharp Company and successfully made his first pot of gold.

Since he was 19 years old, he has only been the president. Entrepreneurship History seems to be smooth sailing, but in fact he has suffered a lot. Looking at the key to Sun’s success, it is natural that he not only grasps the pulse of the times and the needs of consumers, but also has something to do with the discrimination and exclusion he suffered from Japanese society because of his Korean identity since childhood. All heroes are not afraid of low birth. The ambitious Son even called out his vision of running a software bank sustainably for 300 years. This also makes him different from other entrepreneurs and has a grander vision and courage.

There are actually quite a few books introducing Sun Zhengyi. Some books introduce his life story, some analyze the business strategies of software banks, and some even talk about Sun’s unique working methods. But I have no idea about “Managing My Daydream: The Strongest Skill Son Masayoshi Taught Me” written by Mr. 嶋聡 “How to turn a goal that people believe in into a successful career” and “[Domineering: Son’s Leadership into the Future] (https://goo.gl/g8a9yR)” are the most interesting. The reason is very simple, because he was the core staff closest to Sun.

勋聡 was active in Japanese politics and served as a member of the House of Representatives for three terms. He graduated from the Economics Department of Nagoya University. He is not only smart, but also an outstanding student of Matsushita Political Science and Technology School. After leaving politics, he entered the software banking group and served as the director of the president’s office for 3,000 days. He was praised by the media as “Son’s adviser” and “secret weapon.”

Shima, who studied under Konosuke Matsushita, is personally involved in every major decision-making of Son Masayoshi, making good use of his abundant connections in the political circles to help software banks successfully expand their business territory. From the book “[Domineering: Masayoshi Son’s Leadership into the Future]” (https://goo.gl/g8a9yR), we can also see how he helped the software banking group go global, and even used the precise vision and hedging ability of a politician to help Son, who had already had a successful career, achieve many more lofty and ambitious ideals and goals, such as the innovation of the telecommunications industry, the task of revitalizing Japan, etc.

Son Zhengyi once said: “Money is just a trivial matter.” His vision has long gone beyond success or failure. In the book “[Domineering: Son’s Leadership into the Future] (https://goo.gl/g8a9yR)”, I not only observed Son’s domineering and far-sightedness, but also Shimagi’s meticulous service and communication skills as a consultant.

I have benefited a lot from this book, and I am happy to recommend it to friends who are currently working as mid- to senior-level executives in the industry, as well as entrepreneurial friends who are in the early stages of their careers! Let us gain a deeper understanding of Son’s unique leadership philosophy through the author’s sharp perspective!
