When it comes to “reportage”, what do you think of? Do you know how to plan and interview in order to write a powerful reporting article?

I am very happy to have the opportunity to accept the invitation of associate professor Dai Huaxuan to go to the Department of Taiwanese Literature, Jinri University to share the experience of character reporting with the students. The two consecutive weeks of teaching also reminded me of my past experiences in the media.

Teaching objectives of reportage literature

The teaching objectives of this course mainly focus on the introduction of the rise and evolution of reportage literature in Taiwan, and through the text reading of reportage literature masterpieces, understand the writing-related abilities displayed in reportage writing: description of scenery, narration of events, elucidation of principles, editing of documentary materials and other writing-related abilities, and practice them in practice.

Curriculum design combining theory with practice

During the two-week course, in addition to introducing [Article Writing Skills] (https://www.writing.cool), I also took the opportunity to share many practical work experiences with my classmates. At the same time, I also arranged group exercises, hoping that not only can everyone learn the theory of interviewing, but also simulate the people, events, and objects encountered at the interview site, so as to get closer to the real appearance of media work.

I cherish the opportunity to spend the past two weeks with this group of young college students. In addition to sharing my own experiences, I also learned about their various questions and interesting ideas about interview reporting from the interaction with the classmates. The so-called “teaching and learning” is actually quite precious.

Core Values of Interview Reporting

For me, interviewing and reporting are actually two sides of the same coin, not only the inside and outside of each other, but also a very fascinating job. Although I have been away from the media for a while, whether I am writing columns or recording podcasts, I have never forgotten my original intention as a media person and the core value of interviewing and reporting.

I also hope that through this sharing at Truth University, more young friends can understand the fun and methods of interview reporting.
