In August of this year, the [First Graphic and Text Creation Training Camp] (https://creationcamp.vstar.school/) jointly prepared by Teacher Penny and I is about to open! In order to prepare for the live broadcast on the evening of July 22, I took the time to start briefings in the past two days. Speaking of the original intention of holding this course, the reason why we launched this online training camp is actually to help more friends fall in love with graphic and text creation, and thus develop their content production capabilities.

Speaking of cultivating future talents, I just read a [survey report] recently released by McKinsey Management Consultants a few days ago (https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/public-and-social-sector/our-insights/defining-the-skills-citiz ens-will-need-in-the-future-world-of-work) (a survey of 18,000 people in 15 countries), mentioned 56 essential [basic skills] for future workplace talents (https://www.facebook.com/Hoostapp/posts/351734353228643).

McKinsey divides the abilities and mentality that future workers should possess into the following four major categories of abilities, thirteen groups and 56 other basic skills:

  1. Cognitive abilities: critical thinking, planning and working methods, communication skills, and mental flexibility.

  2. Self-leadership: self-awareness and self-management, entrepreneurship, and achieving goals.

  3. Interpersonal skills: mobilization system, relationship development, group work efficiency.

  4. Digital competency: digital fluency and citizenship, software use and development, and understanding of digital systems.

According to McKinsey research, as long as we can master these skills, we will have more employment possibilities, better income, and a higher sense of job fulfillment in the future.

Of course, I also agree with my friend You Shufan’s view: These skills are indeed important, but how can companies cultivate such talents? Compared with rare all-rounders, companies should cultivate employees’ overall perspective and recruit more talents with an overall perspective.

After reading this article, it also reminded me of a good book I had read before, “Talents the Future is Waiting for”. The author Daniel Pink reminds everyone that when knowledge is no longer the only power, we must also know how to make good use of the six powers of sensibility to make ourselves the talents the world desires in the future.

The book mentions six key abilities related to the future, namely:

  1. Not only function, but also design: It is no longer enough to provide usable products, services, experiences or lifestyles. Nowadays, whether you want to make money or feel fulfilled, you must create something beautiful, unique, or touching.

  2. Not only arguments, but also stories: Modern people are faced with excessive information, and it is not enough to argue based on reason. Someone will always find contrary evidence to refute your statement. If you want to persuade others, impart information, or even convince yourself, you must have the ability to weave stories.

  3. Not only talk about professionalism, but also integration: The industrial age and the information age require professionalism and expertise. However, as white-collar jobs are either outsourced or replaced by software, the opposite of professionalism has also begun to be valued: that is, the ability to integrate parts into wholes. What today’s society needs most is not analysis but synthesis - the ability to look at general trends, cross barriers, and combine independent elements to create new and good products.

  4. Not only logic, but also care: Logical thinking is one of the unique abilities of human beings. However, in a world where information is exploding and analytical tools are evolving with each passing day, logic alone is not enough. To survive in the future, you must understand others’ preferences and needs, build relationships, and demonstrate empathy.

  5. Not only can you be serious, but you can also have fun: There is too much evidence to show that laughing more, staying in a good mood, playing games and having a sense of humor are of great benefit to health and work. Of course, you should be serious when you should be serious, but being too serious is not necessarily good for your career, and it is even more harmful to your health. In the age of sensibility, whether at work or at home, we need to have fun.

  6. Not just about making money, but also about meaning: We live in a world with extremely abundant materials. As a result, countless people have broken free from the shackles of making a living and been able to pursue deeper desires: purpose in life, meaning in the world, and spiritual fulfillment.

Enjoying a happy life and creating the meaning and value of life are what many people pursue and long for throughout their lives. If you also want to become the talent that the future is waiting for, then you need to make up for these six high points mentioned in the book “The talent that the future is waiting for” Sensibility and high understanding ability; if combined with the [56 skills] recommended by McKinsey (https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/public-and-social-sector/our-insights/defining-the-skills-citizens-will-need-in-the-future-world-of-work), they will surely complement each other and help you create a wonderful chapter in life!
