Time flies, and the days of working from home go by so fast that it is easy for people to forget the progression of seasons. In the blink of an eye, it has been two months since I started writing “Vista Cocoon Diary” and sending out e-newsletters every day!

Speaking of my newsletter, have you subscribed? In fact, I publish two e-newsletters every day. In addition to “Vista Cocoon Diary” (https://iamvista.substack.com/), I will also launch another “e-newsletter called Vstar” (https://newsletter.vstar.school/) starting from July 8, which mainly focuses on the areas of digital marketing and copywriting.

During this period, many friends wrote to me asking me various questions about e-newsletters, and hoped that I could talk about how to start planning and running an e-newsletter? Although I publish two e-newsletters every day, and each of these two e-newsletters now has thousands of subscribers, I know very well: all this is just the beginning, and the little achievements I have accumulated are still far from success…

However, since everyone is interested in the topic of running an e-newsletter, let me start from today and share with you some of my experience in running an e-newsletter!

First of all, the first question many friends write to is: Why issue an e-newsletter?

In fact, I know what everyone is saying or asking… Well, aren’t e-newsletters outdated? Now that there are Facebook, Instagram and all kinds of content platforms, do we really need to run an e-newsletter? Will sending so many e-newsletters cause Shi Shenhai to lose his temper? Would anyone really want to see it?

Information technology is developing rapidly, but email has never been outdated. Instead, it can provide everyone with the most direct way to communicate with the target audience. Having said that, many experts and scholars believe that email marketing is the most distinctive active marketing tool today.

We often see the message from the media that email marketing is dead, but numbers don’t lie:

According to the Email Marketing Industry Census conducted by Econsultancy, we found that email marketing is still popular with well-known brands around the world. One reason is that email marketing has a very high return on investment (ROI), with a whopping 66% of marketers saying their email marketing ROI is better than average, with only 7% saying the performance is unsatisfactory. In other words, email marketing remains one of the most popular ways for brands to communicate with and provide value to their customers.

According to foreign statistical surveys, the number of global email users will exceed the 4 billion mark in 2020, and is expected to reach 4.2 billion by the end of 2022. In other words, more than half of the world’s population is using email, and even more impressively, 1.2 trillion emails are sent every hour. It is obvious that email is still very closely related to us.

What’s more noteworthy is that throughout our lives, we may change our mobile phone numbers or social media accounts, and even your company’s website and blog may be revised or closed. However, the email account that each of us is accustomed to may be used for a long time from our student days until the end of our lives.

McKinsey & Company, a well-known consulting firm, said that compared with the popular social media, email is a more effective marketing method for acquiring customers. According to the company’s survey, 60% of consumers believe that e-newsletters will affect their shopping decisions, which shows the importance of e-mail marketing.

Even if we don’t look at it from the perspective of commercial profit, I still think that publishing an e-newsletter is of great significance and value to every creator. From the process of writing the content of the e-newsletter, we can find a way to talk to ourselves, because the communication of pictures and texts is an act that is conducive to self-healing. Furthermore, by publishing e-newsletters, it will be easier to find close friends; if you are interested in building a personal brand, this will also be a good channel and approach.

Business operators will use sensational and eye-catching titles to attract everyone’s attention. The “farming-type” e-newsletter seeks to establish long-term trusting relationships with consumers through continuous contact and communication, thereby maximizing performance and strengthening its own brand.

It should be a “farming-type” e-newsletter that follows the long-term route! I always feel that the writing itself should have warmth and emotion.
