On the eve of the Chinese New Year, the cafe was bustling with people. Some people came to take a rest after finishing their New Year shopping, while others were still working with their laptops. It seemed they had no time to spare! As for me, while sipping coffee, I took my time to read this book “[Leaving the company, I live well: An ideal life proposal for becoming a freelance worker] (https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products /0010810277?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201902)》, in fact, the mood is complicated.

[This book](https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products/0010810277?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=a p-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201902) not only wrote some of my inner thoughts, but also a portrayal of my life in the past few years. To put it more exaggeratedly, this should also be a subject that I can write on. The author of this book Liu Yangming is my colleague who used to serve in the media era, but no one thought that we would all embark on the journey of free workers later.

Many people have asked me, why did I leave the media? In fact, I still like my previous job very much, but maybe I have more dreams in my heart that I want to pursue… I dare not say it openly, but I am doing pretty well after leaving the company. Even before, an EMBA classmate secretly asked me, “Can you earn a million-dollar annual salary by taking on cases freely like this?”

But I agree with the author’s statement: Freelance work is actually a right of choice. You can take back your life from the time limit of being employed, and change the work content of accepting the company’s orders into a people-oriented one, and go out of your own interests and passions. Thinking about where “my slow ball” is? Keep doing what you love, and most importantly - make money happily.

Unlike regular full-time employees grinding it out on the 9 to 5, freelance workers are self-employed and work on a contract basis, usually for more than one company at the same time. Some examples of popular freelance jobs include writing, graphic design, web development, programming, and photography.

With the topic and trend of “slash youth”, many young friends have recently asked me: “How can I become a freelance worker?”

Well, that’s a really big question. How do freelance workers survive? Jewish novelist [Neil. Neil Richard Gaiman once said that being talented, delivering documents on time, and being easy to get along with are the three most important abilities.

Yang Ming said that if you want to become a freelance worker, you must have at least two abilities. After taking stock of myself, I dare not say that I have achieved all three of these points, but I might as well regard them as this year’s New Year’s goals!
