Previously, because of reading the book “[New Platform Thinking: Effortless Thinking and Work Techniques that Exceed Hundreds of Times the Results]” (https://goo.gl/9RNemR), I re-examined the principles of building platforms and building connections, and also experienced more details that were easily overlooked in the past.
Actually, this is not the first time I have read this book. I have read this book several times a few years ago. But this time I happened to meet HPX G5+ Reading Club and my friends chose to read this book together, so I had another chance to savor it carefully.
According to the division of labor in the book club, I want to share with you “How to build connections outside the company.” But in fact, building connections is very subjective, and everyone has their own opinions. The good news is that this book aims to convey a concept of friendship that is applicable to all countries. After reading it carefully this time, I really have a different understanding. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and more experienced, so I can better understand some of the difficult-to-understand parts of the book?
Speaking of “network management”, this is not only a topic that many business and management magazines like to discuss (https://www.businessweekly.com.tw/KIndepArticle.aspx?id=19062), but also a topic that many professionals often talk about nowadays. I even know some friends who teach people how to build network bridges. I don’t deny that connections are important, but more important is our own mentality.
As mentioned in the book, we must first put ourselves in the other person’s shoes and try to sublimate “what I want to do” into “what we want to do.” I don’t like that many people view network management with the mentality of comparing every penny. The interactions between people cannot be calculated using computers to calculate the pros and cons. Please remember that sincere and good connections all come from an altruistic perspective!
I also appreciate what Prudential Life’s super salesman [Huang Zhiming] (https://www.managertoday.com.tw/articles/view/9906) said, “Do a good job first, become professional and famous, and then socialize!” If you are too pretentious or utilitarian, you will lose your sincerity.
If you are interested in building connections, you can first take a look at the [briefing] I compiled below (https://www.slideshare.net/vista/ss-37795842); of course, the briefing can only excerpt some of the key points and cannot replace me telling you the story. If I have the opportunity, I would be happy to share with you my experience in society over the past few years.
──Especially when I was working in the media, I had the opportunity to come into contact with many entrepreneurs, celebrities and senior executives in the industry due to my work, which gave me a more and more in-depth understanding of “network management”.
