I still remember that when I went back to listen to Mr. Elton’s lecture on “Profit Equation for Starting a Course”, I happened to be chatting with [Captain Lu] (https://www.facebook.com/captainluteam/) who was sitting next to me about the “Personal Brand Alchemy” course he had recently opened. Since we are both interested in personal branding and have some experience in it, we talked about the possibility of cooperation in the future⋯⋯
Therefore, I will first come to learn from Captain Lu today. When it comes to building a personal brand, I am actually no stranger to it, but I still try to zero in on what I have seen and learned, and concentrate on listening to Captain Lu’s wonderful sharing.
Captain Lu mentioned at the beginning that when we are talking about personal brand, the real focus is not yourself, but the role you play, and how you are in the eyes of others. Since Captain Lu is the co-founder of the “Hourmasters” website, he cited two successful people on the platform as evidence, namely [Webmaster Lu Ke] (https://newbieboss.com/) and [Jianghu known as Sister S] (https://huntersherry.com/).
It’s this simple: You are a brand. You are in charge of your brand. There is no single path to success. And there is no one right way to create the brand called You. Except this: Start today. Or else.
Webmaster Lu Ke and Sister S are not only good-looking, these two masters also have outstanding professional skills. And because they have built a distinct personal brand, they have successfully achieved the enviable goals of doubling revenue, word of mouth, and media citations.
Captain Lu told everyone that high-value personal brands are not purely accidental, but mostly require careful design. Therefore, during the three hours this afternoon, Captain Lu not only shared many ideas for building a personal brand with everyone, but also helped everyone find their own brand positioning through eight step-by-step exercises, and then move on to the road to building a personal brand.
Why is brand important?从苹果公司的故事就不难理解。 We must also thank Steve Jobs for his understanding, persistence and pursuit of the brand spirit, which enabled the company to come back to life and continue to improve, and now it has finally become a great company in people’s hearts.
Captain Lu pointed out that the process of building a personal brand can start from exploring the brand spirit, setting personal positioning and developing the brand story. If you want to build a personal brand, you must first think about what your values are? Are your customers and fans attracted to the values you deliver? Of course, the values you convey will also determine the relationship between you and your customers.
In the third exercise of today’s course, Captain Lu asked us to choose the values we most identify with. The keywords I selected include: trust, creativity, love, carefulness, enthusiasm, speed, punctuality, perseverance and responsibility. In the process of building a personal brand, if I were to choose the five most representative values, I think they might be trust, responsibility, punctuality, creativity and love.
——Everyone has different values. Although there is no right or wrong, your choice also represents how you and others view this matter?
If you want to build a personal brand, you can’t just be an information provider, but you must inject your values into your articles, videos, or website content.
I also agree that in the process of building a personal brand, perhaps the most difficult thing is brand positioning. Therefore, Captain Lu also uses a personal brand positioning map to help everyone find their own positioning.
I tried to use “Vista Writing Companion Program” as an example to define my own draft version:
-
Personal advantages: rich teaching experience, timely assistance and companionship.
-
Product services: consulting, course teaching (physical classes, online classes, audio, etc.), books, etc.
*Target group: office workers, people who have needs for workplace writing or marketing.
-
Perceptual value: Help clients overcome writing bottlenecks (from being afraid of writing to falling in love with writing).
-
Rational value: Help clients write effective (can convert) copywriting.
Captain Lu also reminded everyone to try to outline the outline of the perfect customer, and to always think about: Why must customers come to you?
What can you do if you want to stand out in the market? Captain Lu suggested that everyone start with differentiation and try to make themselves number one in a certain market.
He also mentioned to everyone a good book that is out of print “[Undefeated Marketing: Master teaches 22 market rules that cannot be violated] (https://www.books.com.tw/products/0010356175)”. Based on the operating model of the market, the two authors integrated their valuable insights into the essence of thoughts such as “positioning” and “marketing war”, and summarized them into twenty-two long-lasting marketing tips.
I think these Twenty-Two Rules are also very suitable as a reference for building a personal brand. Below, I list some of the more impressive points for your reference:
-
The law of leadership: Instead of claiming that your product is better than others, it is better to enter a certain market first.
-
Category Rule: If you can’t be first in a product category, try creating a new category that you can be first in.
*Law of Mind: Rather than being the first to market, it is better to be the first to enter the minds of consumers.
For example, the world’s first personal computer was obviously the Altair 8800, but the author believes that the first image that pops up in many people’s minds is usually an Apple computer… Well, this is the power of the law of mind.
22 immutable laws of marketing from Sohail Riaz
Finally, Captain Lu also shared with everyone the secret easter egg of this course, which is how billionaires achieve their goals. Well, I’ll just give you a hint here, and welcome friends who are interested to sign up for the personal branding class offered by Captain Lu in the future!
