Ulysses + Claude + MCP: Create an AI-driven smart writing system to double productivity
People often ask me recently: “Vista, you have to write columns, prepare courses, do consulting projects, and build a website every day. How do you do it?”
To be honest, if I were still using the method I used five years ago, I would probably be exhausted.
Recently, I found a secret weapon that doubles my writing efficiency - not some magical willpower training, but a set of tools that really know how to accompany writers: Ulysses + Claude + MCP.
Let’s start with a problem
As a person who relies on words, the biggest challenge I face every day is not that I can’t write, but that there are too many things in my head that are too scattered.
Column articles, lecture notes, course materials and reading experiences accumulated over more than ten years are scattered in every corner. Every time I try to find a point that I’ve written before, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. It takes several hours each time to compile all the information on a certain topic.
I’ve been using the writing app Ulysses for a long time. Recently, I began to think about whether it is possible to make writing more efficient through AI empowerment? Later, I found that it could be used with Claude’s MCP (Model Context Protocol) technology, and everything began to change.
This is not just a tool, it is a new possibility for writing
Let me share a few real-life usage scenarios:
Scene 1: Inspiration is no longer lost
I used to have a good idea suddenly come to my mind in the middle of the night, and half forget it when I woke up the next day. Now I just say something to Claude and it creates a fully formatted note in Ulysses, complete with dates, tags, and to-do items. I just need to fill in the specifics and don’t have to start with a blank document every time.
Scenario 2: Cross-article intelligent search
“I remember writing an article about digital transformation and retail last year, but I forgot where…”
Now I just ask, and Claude can help me look through all the articles, find relevant passages, and summarize the key points. What used to take hours of manual rummaging can now be completed in minutes.
Scenario 3: Automatically generate writing reports
Every quarter I review what I have written, what is the distribution of topics, which keywords appear the most? This used to be a chore, but now I let Claude analyze all my articles in the past three months, produce a visual report in a few minutes, and save it directly into Ulysses.
Who is this system suitable for?
Whether you are:
- Product Manager: Need to manage requirements documents, meeting minutes and version iterations
- Teacher: development of course materials, student counseling records and accumulation of teaching reflections
- Entrepreneur: business plan writing, operating record management and customer communication records
- Writer: Inspiration capture and organization, material theme analysis and multi-platform publishing
As long as your work involves a lot of word processing, this combination can help you solve the pain point of “data scattered everywhere, time-consuming and labor-intensive search, and repetitive work of sorting”.
Trinity smart writing system
The core value of this system is:
Efficiency increased by 10 times, focusing on the essence of creation, intelligent management
When AI becomes your assistant, you no longer need to spend time on tedious file organization, but can focus on what is really important - thinking, creating, and connecting with readers.
What I want to share with you in this live broadcast
At 8 pm on January 30, I will live broadcast with my good friend Teacher Zhang Yongxi to talk about why I like this tool and how to build this system?
I won’t just talk about theory, but share it with you through practical scenarios.

The last thing I want to say
Writing is never just about typing. It is the embodiment of thinking, the accumulation of knowledge, and a way to connect with readers.
When we have better tools, they don’t replace the essence of writing, but they allow us to focus more on what really matters—thinking, creating, and connecting with people.
In this live broadcast, I will not teach you how to let AI help you write articles, but share how to make AI become a good partner on your writing journey to help you handle the tedious organizing work and let you focus on the creation itself.
See you online at 8pm on January 30th. I look forward to exploring new writing possibilities with you.
