I still remember that yesterday, I just mentioned the importance of sense of ritual to everyone. Today I just happened to help write a recommended preface for a new book that will be published in August. This is a translation book about time management. When it comes to time management, I’ve done some research! Simply put, you can’t go wrong by setting your priorities and starting with the important ones first!
In addition, I also agree: do the things you like seriously, and make the things you hate easy. Taking myself as an example, I usually like reading and writing, and I am also keen on studying the development trends of various information technology and digital marketing. No matter how busy you are, you will always set aside some time for further study. Whether it is learning Yoga or Knowledge Card Design, the key point is to do what you are interested in.
Every morning, I check my Digital Notes to see what important things are waiting for me to implement?
For today, the highlight is of course the interview with udn Orange Generation! Speaking of interviews, I am naturally no stranger to them. After all, I have been a reporter and editor-in-chief for many years. However, I used to interview others, but in recent years, the frequency of interviews has increased.
Orange Generation is a content channel established by United Online Company, which mainly provides readers with information on seven aspects such as health, financial management, fashion, travel, learning, life mood and public welfare that they need to face the second half of life. This time they wanted to talk to me about a few things about adults’ writing. When they saw the interview, they thought of their past and couldn’t help laughing.
For example, the other party asked: “You studied information management at university and [industrial engineering] at graduate school (https://ie.ntu.edu.tw/Default.html). How did you get the opportunity to embark on the path of writing? Do you have support from your family or teachers?”
In fact, I have a wide range of interests. I first studied electronic engineering, and later studied information management, cultural creativity, information communication, EMBA, and industrial engineering. I have dabbled in science, engineering, business management, and humanities. As for why you embarked on the road of writing and even entered the world as a literary worker? First of all, I liked reading when I was a child, and I thought that if others could write, I could write too! Secondly, it may be influenced and nurtured by family origins. Therefore, I have loved writing poems, novels or various other things since I was in elementary school.
I also feel that I am very lucky. My parents have supported me since I was a child. They not only encouraged me to read and create a lot, but also often bought me many books to read. During my studies, I met several good teachers. In particular, [Poet Dahuang] (http://faculty.ndhu.edu.tw/~e-poem/poemroad/da-huan/category/introduction), whose real name is Wu Minggao, happened to be my tutor when I was in middle school. Perhaps under the subtle influence of my teacher, I started to like writing poetry. He mentioned that “long poems pursue momentum, short poems pursue charm, and take the theme “event” as the backbone”, which also inspired me a lot. In addition, my tutor during my junior college days, Huang Xiuyan (http://yzcl.tw/pdf/YZCL-105-FM-%E9%BB%83%E7%A7%80%E7%87%95%E8%B3%87%E6%96%99%E8%A1%A8.pdf), had a PhD in Chinese and she often encouraged me to write.
In addition, there is another question that made me think about it again and again: “You once said that you have loved reading and creating since you were a child. Who are the key figures or works that inspired your creative interests?”
I have read countless books, but the book that impressed me the most, I vaguely remember, was recommended to me by my mother. I remember when I was just in kindergarten, I started reading the long autobiographical novel “[A Boat in the Ocean]” (https://www.books.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/pro) by Zheng Fengxi, who was awarded the “Top Ten Outstanding Youth” award. ducts/D020043203?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-202106)》.
Teacher Zheng Fengxi was born in Houcuo Village, Kouhu Township, Yunlin County. He suffered from congenital bipedal atrophy since he was a child. He could not stand on his feet and could only crawl. He was once nearly abandoned, but he was not afraid of dangerous challenges and bravely crawled instead of walking to face the unpredictable journey of life, winning the admiration of the people across the country.
This book means a lot to me. I have read it at least a thousand times, from the earliest picture version and phonetic version to the large print version and the hardcover version. Not only do I admire Teacher Zheng’s spirit of being able to survive despite being disabled, but I also admire his ability to write touching chapters of life with simple and unpretentious words.
This interview lasted for more than an hour. I am very happy to have the opportunity to be interviewed by [udn Orange Generation] (https://orange.udn.com/orange/index), which also allows me to examine my writing path.
Speaking of interviews, it also reminds me of an [exclusive interview] I had with a writer last spring (https://crossing.cw.com.tw/article/13323). I still remember that the topic at that time revolved around career development in your 20s and 30s. Many friends know that I come from the media and have worked as a reporter, editor and director, but few people know that my first job in life was actually an electronic engineer who was busy assembling, welding electronic components and designing circuit diagrams?
Well, isn’t this a bit hard to imagine?
In fact, when I was interning at Acer Computer, I once wrote a database program! Some friends are curious, why did I go from an ordinary electronic engineer to a product manager and producer in the Internet industry, and then to the media and e-commerce fields, and even now serve as a corporate consultant, lecturer, and columnist?
Professor of behavioral psychology at Stanford University in the United States Carol Dweck (Carol Dweck), who was the first to propose the mentality of growth mindset (growth mindset) and fixed mindset (fixed mindset) in educational psychology research. According to this theory, children with a growth mindset believe that they can improve through hard work and are therefore more willing to try and make mistakes, grow and succeed from challenging difficulties than children with a fixed mindset.
I think I might be a person with a growth mindset, right? Therefore, not only is he very curious, he is also very keen on seeking knowledge and taking risks, and he also has an open attitude towards the unknown world. People with a growth mindset not only believe that they can control their own destiny, but also believe that all skills can be acquired through acquired learning, including writing.
